Hi there, I'm Sarah [edited]. I'm from Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Since these forums are about Anxiety and Depressions especially for youngsters, I am here to share my depressed and success story (it was very depressing in the beginning).

I completed my graduation from [edited] in 2012 in information technology with majors in web design and development.

After that, I was hoping to make a good start in the IT industry as my academic records were good enough. But things turned out to be worse than my imagination that there was no appreciation of my entire qualification in my own homeland. I was not even called up for a single interview. The main reason I came to know was the hiring of cheap labor and employees that were coming in huge to UAE from South Asia or Indian Countries. Thus we were no more in demand because of our high demands (which were almost very acceptable) for every recruiter. This period was so terrifying for me as I decided to leave my place and try to find some other opportunities.

In 2014, I met a business services provider which was high in demands due to increasing economic activities in UAE. He suggested me to start my own agency for business services as I was a good designer and developer, he viewed my portfolio and I was much appreciated.

They provided me the homework and guideline to start my own firm. I worked and researched for about 3 months for the investments and basic needs required for this setup.

Finally, I managed about 12000$ and a little team of 4 classmates who were in the same situation I was facing for 2 years. We got a basement for rent in an apartment where we started our first ever business with very little resources. Our initial clients were not so strong, but this was our first experience, therefore, we worked hard in daylight and night to make the best for our clients. And we got it, our first client introduced our services and dedication to the market, as a result, we came in the sight of numerous companies and brands.

Since that day, we never look back to snow windows as we were getting great revenue and orders. Within one and a half year, we switched our office to the most prime location of Dubai, at Jumeirah lake towers. We also introduced our services globally to become a world class design and development agency. Till now, our company [edited] has done more than a thousand projects worldwide, we are among the top design firms in the Middle East, having served more than 300 international clients.

I hereby recommend all newbies who are in trouble of choosing a right career for them. I'm available all time for your consulting and counseling. All you need is self-confidence and motivation, and the most important thing, the passion with your work and objective.

@sarahemi - Hi Sarah, thanks for sharing your story! It definitely sounds like you've been very successful in carving your own path when the traditional one wasn't working, which is very inspiring :)

I have made a couple edits to your post because confidentiality is really important at 7 Cups, so I removed identifying information. I hope your story helps others also struggling in the job market!

@Anomalia

Thanks for your appreciation and motivation. I'm really in pursuit of testimonials by your community.

But Anomalia, I'd surprised to see that you edited my post. I think you didn't get the climax of my story. there is no confidential or identifying information and I'm totally comfortable with it. my whole story comes up to this site. If you are removing it, then there is not any inspiration for anyone who is depressed or demotivated. I think 7Cups is for helping depressed people not to stress them.

I hope you will review it.

thanks

@sarahemi - What I removed were your full name (which makes you searchable off of the site) and the link to your business (which is against policy of sharing offsite contact). I think that the heart of your story remains, which shows someone who really took a tough situation and found a way to build something new and fruitful from it and that is incredibly inspiring to others, even without the identifying information that would let someone track you down off of 7 Cups. I'm happy to discuss further if you want to PM me about it. :)
