I received a contact where the person had treatment resistant depression they mentioned that they have given up on seeing therepists still feel handling them is out of our scope, not sure what benefit they get by being on the platform when therapists and medication couldnt help.

@YourbestfriendinSA When you say the platform, do you mean 7 Cups? At 7 Cups listeners are here so that anyone can feel heard and understood. Even people with treatment resistant depression deserve to feel heard and understood, I would say.

I am confused about what you mean by "handling". As listeners we are not here to give advice or to solve problems.

When therapists and medication have not helped someone in the past, it is not always true that they cannot be helped at all. There are specialized therapies and other treatments for depression in addition to the usual kinds of therapy and medication. However, advising members about these possible solutions is, indeed, out of our scope.
