Feeling the Weight: Job Search and Baby On the Way

Hi everyone, I wanted to share something that's been weighing heavily on me lately. With my baby due very soon, I'm feeling a lot of pressure, especially from family, about working. It seems like there's a perception that I don't want to work, but the truth is, I've been actively job searching for months without any success.

It's been incredibly disheartening, and I'm wondering if it's my qualifications, or perhaps the fact that I don't drive and am really hoping for a remote role. Trying to find work with a baby on the way adds another layer of challenge.

I deeply miss having my own income like I did back in my home country, and I'd love to find a way to balance being with my little one and also getting back into work. This whole situation has left me feeling quite emotional, and I've been crying a lot. It's tough feeling so dependent. I just want to regain my independence and contribute financially.

@amicableBlackberry7974 that's really thought, frustrating and depressing to be in a situation on need and see the world turning its back on you. Unfortunately, it does happen a lot to women. Employers who care more about profit than anything else often refuse to employ new mothers because they know how much time and energy babies take and they assume mothers won't truly care or make an effort in their job as the child is their priority.
Having a job is particularly important for women, because not depending on other people (aka their partner) for sustainment is not only freedom but also personal safety. Employers still refuse to look beyond stereotypes and gender roles in order to change the tide.
Don't give up, being financially independent might save your and your child's life one day. If you have to settle for something not ideal for the moment until you find something better, do it. If you can, rely on community with other mothers and learn from their experiences, including tips on how to handle everything and suggestions on where to find welcoming workplaces. You're not alone!

Thank you for your advice. Yes I've joined a mum's group and ask for advice there. It's been quite helpful for me.
