Reflections from this week's Women's Circle Discussion
🌷This week in the Women's Circle Discussion Group we explored Victim Blaming and its damaging affects on women. I'm sharing these closing reflections from the end of the group for anyone who wasn't able to attend the discussion or anyone who needs to hear it.
What happened to you was not your fault. The blame you carry — whether it came from others or from yourself — does not belong to you. And the shame you’ve been made to feel? That doesn’t belong to you either.
That blame? That shame? They belong to the person who harmed you.
They belong to the culture that told you to be quieter, to be smaller, to be more careful, to not go out alone, or dress as you choose, to avoid certain places, activities, lifestyles, etc.
They belong to the systems and people who turned away, looked away, or blamed you instead of holding the real perpetrator accountable.
Today, we name the harm. We challenge the culture that allows it to thrive. And we begin, together, to rewrite the narrative — one where women are believed, supported, and empowered to reclaim their truth.
That work doesn’t end here. It continues in the conversations you have, the boundaries you set, the compassion you extend to yourself and to other women.
You are brave. You are worthy. You are believed. 💛
Take that with you — and let go of what was never yours to carry. 🌸
