Worried about PMS symptoms
Right before my period comes, I get super annoyed and mad and sad so easily. I know that it’s normal to have mood swings, but is there any way that I can lessen it? I don’t want to wind up like my mom and hurt other people around me.
I feel like I have a pretty good life style. I eat healthy and feel rested when I wake up in the morning, so I don’t think it’s a sleep issue. I can’t afford an actual therapist(hence why I’m on here) so I’m just looking for advice.

Its good that you recognise how you feel before your cycle, that allows you to process feelings and not take it out on others. Get plenty of rest, exercise, do things that you love and brighten up your day, lifting your mood and taking the intensity out of your feelings, wishing you all the best 💜💕

It’s possible your doctor could have suggestions. I personally take something for my cycle and it has helped tremendously. Although if you aren’t interested in taking any kind of medication then making sure to plan ahead and track your cycle is great. That way you can feel prepared for mood swings and make plans to keep your days extra calm and restful during that time

Hey there. I'm sorry you've to go through that. PMS or Premenstrual Syndrome is real and we often underestimate the ways it flares up around our monthlies. It is of course linked to hormonal changes and sometimes to conditions like PCOS and PCOD. PMS can come up in various forms like anxiety, anger, lethargy, pain, etc. It's important to recognise what you're going through and take steps to stay relaxed while you go through this phase. I am not a doctor and I can't advise you on how to lessen it but I'd recommend getting in touch with a professional if it gets out of hands.

@Rustypotato I can hear that you worry about how to manage your emotions on your time of month.
Women are socialised to be nurturers and i can see its coming from a place of feeling like you wnt come across as caring when you aren't on time of month.
You can ask the following questions:
Is your diet affecting your mood?
Is there pain that comes with the difficulty in regulating emotions?
Are you feeing unheard in relationships and judged when on your time of month?
