The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Virginia, MN, harnesses the power of experiential learning to train and uplift future advocates and educators committed to building a just food system. Sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, this fellowship offers tuition-free access to a comprehensive curriculum focused on organic food systems, ensuring that all aspiring Fellows can participate regardless of their financial situation. Over a six-month residential program at AMI's Allegheny Farm Campus, participants engage in hands-on education, working in partnership with regional non-profits to implement impactful initiatives like community gardens, farmers markets, and health-focused educational sessions. Fellows also play a crucial role in developing innovative distribution channels to enhance access to healthy foods, while supporting community food coalition activities. This journey is followed by a Community Action Year, where they apply their skills in real-world settings, driving forward the mission of sustainable, equitable food access. Applications are welcomed each year until March, with the fellowship experience running from May through October.
