About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship, located in Milford, NH, is dedicated to cultivating a new generation of advocates and educators who champion a food system that is socially, environmentally, and economically just. This transformative program, sponsored by the Allegheny Mountain Institute, provides selected Fellows with six months of hands-on training and experiential learning at the Allegheny Farm in Highland County, VA, without any tuition fees, ensuring accessibility for all. Participants engage in organic food system education, grow diversified crops, maintain community gardens, and lead innovative health education sessions, all while integrating food and ecological literacy into schools. The program empowers Fellows to apply their knowledge during a Community Action Year, collaborating with regional non-profits to improve healthy food access, support farmers markets, and develop vital distribution channels. Applications are accepted until March each year, with the Fellowship experience running from May to October.
