The Next Door began as a vision of women from First Baptist Church Nashville who transformed a vacant church building into transitional housing for women in need. From these humble beginnings, the organization has expanded into a comprehensive treatment center offering multiple levels of care including medically monitored detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization (PHP), and intensive outpatient programming (IOP). Specializing in helping women affected by addiction, mental illness, trauma, and incarceration, The Next Door creates personalized recovery paths in a Christ-centered environment. Their approach combines evidence-based therapy with 12-Step facilitation, prayer, and meditation. Clients participate in individual therapy, process groups, life skills training, case management, Rock to Recovery therapy, family therapy, and relapse prevention. The facility itself is a thoughtfully converted multi-story office building that now serves as a 20-bed residential center where clients share comfortable rooms with one roommate. The program incorporates physical wellness through weekly fitness sessions at the local YMCA, while also providing opportunities for outdoor time and nutritious, cafeteria-style meals. Throughout all its services, The Next Door remains committed to its core mission of empowering women and fostering sustainable recovery that creates meaningful, long-lasting change in their lives.
