The Council on Recovery in Houston, Texas is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing addiction and co-occurring disorders through comprehensive community outreach and treatment programs. Their services span the entire age spectrum, beginning with prevention workshops for children as young as seven and extending to specialized recovery services for older adults. The organization's approach is notably family-centered, recognizing that healing from addiction requires involvement from loved ones. The Council offers two primary structured treatment programs. Their Healing Choices program provides an 8-week comprehensive treatment experience that combines individual, group, and family therapy with 12-Step support and relapse prevention counseling. Participants can complement their recovery with holistic approaches such as yoga and meditation, and professionals can access a specialized private track. For those with financial constraints, the 6-week Discovery Choices program offers similar services, including specialized support for pregnant women, mothers, and individuals with co-occurring disorders. Beyond these core programs, The Council provides recovery coaching for treatment graduates, court-mandated therapy sessions, state-funded assessments, and professional training for graduate student interns. Their therapeutic counseling services are available to individuals of all ages, addressing a wide range of mental health needs whether addiction is present or not. Through this multifaceted approach, The Council on Recovery maintains its commitment to healing individuals and families affected by addiction throughout the Houston community.
