About Farm & Food Systems Fellowship
The Farm & Food Systems Fellowship in Waitsfield, VT, is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of advocates for a just food system that prioritizes social, environmental, and economic equity. Our program empowers Fellows through a tuition-free, six-month immersive experience at the Allegheny Farm, where they receive hands-on education in organic food systems. Throughout their journey, participants engage in meaningful projects such as cultivating diversified crops, running educational initiatives in health care, and fostering community gardens. They also integrate food and ecological literacy into school programs, support local farmers' markets, and enhance access to healthy foods through strategic distribution channels. Following this fellowship, participants embark on a Community Action Year, collaborating with local non-profits to bring their training into actionable strategies that benefit the community. Applications are open until March each year, with the fellowship experience spanning from May to October.
