There are lots of reasons your period could be late. It could be late due to stress - if there was a stressful event in your life around the time you normally would have ovulated, it is possible you ovulated later than usual and your period is also delayed. If you're on birth control, that can also affect the timing of your periods; many women skip periods or stop having periods altogether on birth control. It's also possible that you have some sort of hormonal condition like PCOS that can lead to infrequent menstruration. If it's just late or missed this one time and you're not pregnant, it's probably not that big of a deal, but if you still have concerns once it's been a few months, you might want to see a doctor.

Hey! I understand this causes you a lot of stress. There could be many reasons why you're late. Did you know that stress on itself can delay your periods as well? It all has to do with hormones, and stress has a high impact on your hormones. A peak in your stress hormone levels (cortisol) can cause a significant delay. Other reasons could be sickness, exercising a lot, being underweight or using certain medication. And, of course, hormonal anti-conception methods. Try some breathing exercises to reduce your stress levels (find them on the 7Cups guides page) and wait for a couple of days. It's unlikely that it's a pregnancy if all your tests came back negative, but if you want complete certainty you can visit your doctor.
