What is the worst part of having social anxiety?

...See more To me the worst thing about social anxiety is that it drains out our energies and our motivation to try, to stand up and face our fears. Our fears overcome our curiosity, our desires and our joy to live. We feel like we don't deserve happiness, we feel like a burden to others. But you're a person and you have the right to be happy as much as anyone else. Anxiety is a reaction of our bodies to adverse situations and I believe we cannot be cured from it. Learning to deal with it is a long process and we cannot give up on ourselves. Resilience and tolerance is important. Don't be ashamed to try again. Don't give up. You're not alone :)

One thing about social anxiety...

...See more One thing about social anxiety is that we often feel like we have to force ourselves into situations that make us uncomfortable, that we have to act like everyone else and to meet others' expectations. But we don't have to be an "interesting" person or to be always pleasing to others. We don't have to do everything right and perfect. It's ok to be silent when everyone else is speaking. If you don't have as many friends as others, it doesn't mean that there's something wrong with you. There's no shame in being alone and quiet when the others are gathering in groups. If you're not in a relationship or don't have an ideal amount of friends, it's ok, eventually you'll meet other people in life. If you don't have a job or haven't achieved your academic goals yet, it's fine, you'll have time to work on it and each person has their own timing.

Social anxiety and difficulty to write and read

...See more Do you know if social anxiety can cause difficulty to do writing and reading activities? I don't have a problem to write or read things by myself when I'm home, but at school/uni, when a teacher asks me to write/read something during classes, specially if it's a group activity, I get so anxious that my brain gets oblivious and it's so hard to accomplish the activity. A similar thing happens when it's a homework, that I have to write. I try to write something, but nothing seems good enough, so I end up with nothing. Of course speaking in public, or to a group of people is so much harder (I can get totally oblivious, as if my mind scapes my body for a moment) but these things also makes my student life very difficult. Do you experience this kind of things?

Believing myself wasn't enough, so what is?

...See more I'm about to start a new graduation, after dropping my last one. Due to the stress of social anxiety I ended up without any motivation to attend my classes. I'm so afraid I will repeat everything again. When I started my last graduation, I was very positive (isn't that what people say? 'You just have to believe in yourself'. I did) but then things started to go really wrong. For example, not once, but twice, I started crying in front of all the class during a seminar. And there were different sorts of activities that gave anxiety, even written activities could make me so nervous. Time went on and I gave up trying, because I felt so scared that I could do something wrong, that people would see it and judge me and I would feel humiliated. Well, I don't know what to do now, because believing in myself was clearly not enough. So what can I do? I'm afraid if I feel the humiliation I felt before again, I won't have the strength to overcome it and will end up dropping the college again.
