Abandonment
Relationship Stress / by Janseena1

...See more Well she finally did it. She went all silent, and said she didn't want negativity anymore. Last September 05, I asked her how long do I have to wait since I didn't agree to the whole LDR situation. She got mad and she always does when I pester her with questions about our relationship. On that same day, me and my family fought because I had enough of all the suppression. So a 2 weeks passed, and I reached out to my family and we fixed things but they stated for the last 3 years, the one-sided relationship is getting to me and I changed for the worst. I have anxiety attacks and I'm seriously depressed. I'm on my way to start therapy this Tuesday with their support. I want to write this because I haven't been feeling myself. I know I should let her go and I'm starting to but it's just so difficult like there's a withdrawal feeling.. no one deserves to go through this, my dysregulated nervous system needs to be fixed. I just don't know what to do.

...See more I woke up one day feeling tired of the relationship and the stress it brings to me. I have communicated my needs several times, and I have developed a fear by doing so because my girlfriend would normally stonewall, do the silent treatment or remain harsh to me if I don't just get over it. I'm taking the time to write this because I have suppressed my feelings for far too long. Being in a relationship should be about two people fighting the problem, not abandoning your partner when things go rough. In every argument, there's always room for respect, and it is a requirement. If it's no longer there, then either call it out or leave. Your partner should be a safe place, not someone who shuts you down, rolls their eyes, and minimizes your experience, leaving you in the dirt while they know you'll always be there to give your love and supported, something they can't give in return. Understanding is not the same as accepting, once I realized that I had a choice not to do both, I became aware of how dysfunctional it is and how far the trauma of being in a one-sided relationship affected me. I told her that I'm not afraid of her any longer, and she always threatens me with a breakup and I told her I'm reconsidering her offer because I know my worth. And now she's panicking. What I felt was fear more than love, of being abandoned, without realizing I abandoned myself for so long. I am experiencing a trauma bond withdrawal and it hasn't been easy. But it's the first step, and that's what matters.

...See more I am having a hard time right now thinking straight. I opened up to my partner, and I was invalidated. I don't know what to do, everything seems so blurry and I can't calm down. I don't know what to do

...See more I'm struggling with my avoidant partner for 2 years now. She has a son and I'm okay with the kid being there to the point that I want to treat him like my own but she won't let me. We have been together for 2 years for 6 months, there were ups and downs. She always does the silent treatment and stonewalling when I try to open up things. I can't cry because she'll get mad and I can't open up too. When she got a new job, she decided to move back to her hometown to take care of her son. I struggle with LDR because of the communication issues. I disagreed with it but she got mad, and at the end I had to agree to it. Recently we had a fight because I expressed my needs and I wanted to set a boundary. She got incredibly mad, defensive, and in the end I had to be the one to apologize but at the same expressed that rather than being a safe place, this is happening. She's doing the silent treatment on me again. I have friends and family, but I didn't want to becomea burden. I'm depressed and drained, anxious with all the overthinking, and honestly that's why I'm here. The years of being in this type of relationship where I carried all the weight. I'm struggling.
