When will it stop feeling like I’m in the wrong life?

...See more My partner of 10 years left me (suddenly) almost 2 years ago, before that, we had been best friends since we were 13 years old. Now I’m 33 and It still feels surreal every single day. I’ve gotten to a better place, I’m in school again, I’m slowly making friends and forming connections, I’m doing much better in pretty much every observable way, but inside I feel completely empty and detached. I feel like I’m in the wrong life, like I’m still supposed to be with him. I have to fight myself to not want to check his social media every single day, I have dreams where I’m still trying to make things work, in some cases begging for him to love me again. Every time I try to do something I just feel like he’s supposed to be there. Has anyone else experienced this? Will it ever go away? I miss him so much it makes me sick.

A bad way to keep going?

...See more I debated where this should go but due to the relationship centric nature, decided here is probably my best bet. My fiancé left me last year (after 17 years of friendship and 10 years together) and I haven’t really been coping well. I time and time again will try something to feel *anything* only to notice an ache of loss and loneliness from him not being there. I am on permanent disability, but have been trying to find a way to work and become more independent. I have begun going to classes to prepare for if I were to go back to college. I don’t know why I’m doing any of this. I don’t understand or see any purpose of living without him, I don’t have any friends or close acquaintances, my brother and I have a strained relationship and he moved away to another city anyway. I’m very alone with no one to share my life with, in therapy, trying to improve. And I don’t know why. I’ve realized there’s a large part of me holding onto some vague hope that if I can become “better” (more money, have a car, more stable) he will come back. I don’t really feel too much hope he’ll actually return but I have nothing else to live for. Is this a bad motivation to keep going? Am I setting myself up for a harder crash in the future by giving myself this motivation?

Literally unable to think of anything but him a year later.

...See more My fiancé and partner of 10 years (friends for almost 18 years) left me suddenly last year and since I’ve been unable to go more than 5 minutes without thinking of him. Whenever I try to think of anything he’s all I can think about. He was kind of awful to me, especially during the breakup. But that’s not worth going into detail about. I don’t wan’t anyone else, I’ve lost interest in every hobby I had, i just sit around and think about him all day. I have dreams and nightmares about him every night,I cry about him still daily, I’m completely unable to move on. Is this even remotely normal? He was my first love. Now I’m 32 and alone and it feels like there is zero point to life anymore.

Navigating a No-Contact situation (first break up ever)

...See more So, as the title says, this is my first break up and this first no-contact situation ever. I am 30 years old, my fiancé and partner of 10 years decided to break up with me, saying he needed to be his own person, living on his own. For now, he left to live with his parents and we haven’t been communicating. He says that he needs his space but I don’t know what that means exactly other than not to message him. We rented an apartment together that I can’t afford on my own, and I don’t know how to move around the topic of him paying his half of the rent. I am a person who tends to want to talk everything out, he was my first boyfriend, partner and fiancé, I have no idea what I’m supposed to do. Any advice would be appreciated.
