Is this normal?

...See more I’m 30 years old, and my fiancé proposed to me about a year ago. We’ve been together for almost six years, and lately, his depression has been affecting him much more intensely. He’s been feeling constantly sad and struggling emotionally. Recently, he mentioned that he might want to see other women at some point in the future because he isn’t sure if he’s truly happy with me or in our relationship. Obviously, hearing that was incredibly hurtful, especially after being together for so long and being engaged. He also told me that exploring other people is something that healthy relationships can do. Is that actually true? Is it considered healthy for someone in a committed relationship to want to see other people because they’re questioning whether they’re happy with their partner?

What am I supposed to feel?

...See more Ever since my boyfriend mentioned that he doesn’t always wake up feeling excited or feel excited when we hang out, I’ve started thinking about it in a way I never did before. We’ve been together for over five years, live together, and see each other all the time, so I never really questioned whether I was “excited enough” to see him. I’ve always just felt grateful to have him around and enjoyed spending time together. I never thought I needed to feel a certain level of excitement to know that I’m happy to be with him. But ever since he brought it up, I can’t help but feel sad and question myself. Am I supposed to feel excited every time I see him or constantly look forward to spending the day together? Because the truth is, I don’t always feel that way, and now I feel like something is wrong with me because of it. Especially because we live together and have been together for 5+ years, being around each other has become such a normal and comfortable part of my life. That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy being with him or appreciate him. I also know my boyfriend struggles with depression, so I understand that he may experience emotions and excitement differently. But now I worry that maybe I’m too boring or that I don’t love or appreciate him enough simply because I don’t feel constant excitement. What hurts most is that I never felt like there was a problem with how I felt before, it only became something I started questioning after hearing him talk about it.

...See more Lately, I’ve been feeling really sad. I’ve been feeling like all I do is hurt the people around me, like I don’t deserve good things, and like I’m a curse in everyone’s life. I know deep down that none of that is true, but I can’t help but feel this way sometimes.

Making friends when you’re 30? HELP

...See more I’m 30 and don’t have many friends, even though I’ve lived in the same place my entire life. I work, but my job is primarily remote, and even when I do interact with people in person, many of my coworkers and clients are significantly older than I am. I have hobbies, but most of them are things I enjoy doing at home, so they don’t give me many opportunities to meet new people. I’m also incredibly shy and socially awkward, which makes putting myself out there even more difficult. How would you suggest making friends at 30 when you’re no longer in school, don’t regularly meet new people, and are naturally very shy?

Relationship with someone who’s depressed - HELP
Relationship Stress / by RaisinsRGrapes

...See more My fiancé and I have been together for almost six years, and he is my first relationship. This year, his mental health has gotten significantly worse, and he has been struggling with severe depression. I’ve been doing my best to be there for him, support him, and understand what he’s going through, but some of the things he has been saying have started to take a toll on me and affect how I feel about myself and our relationship. I know it’s not my responsibility to save him or fix what he’s going through, but I truly love and care about him, and I want to do everything I can to make our relationship work. What has been especially concerning to me are some of the things he has shared with me. * He has said that he feels like he needs to find himself and figure out how to be happy, and he has even thought about leaving the state to do that without me in his life. * Another time, I asked him why he proposed to me, hoping for something romantic or reassuring, but he told me that he proposed because he sees a future with me, while also saying that just because he proposed doesn’t mean it’s absolute. * He has also told me that sometimes he thinks about being with other women so he can figure out why he’s with me and appreciate me more. * He has even suggested that I should date other men so I can experience other relationships and figure out what I truly want, since he is my first relationship. But I don’t feel like I need to date other people to know what I want. * He thinks I’m too good for him and that I should find someone who is better for me and can treat me better. I understand that his mental health is affecting how he sees himself, our relationship, his life, and me, and that I shouldn’t take everything he says to heart. But it’s hard to just ignore it when this is the first time I’ve ever heard him say these things. It hurts knowing that he’s hurting and that he sees himself so negatively when I think he’s perfect. I’ve been constantly feeling anxious and a little sad every day because I’m scared that he’s going to eventually break up with me and leave me. I know that what he needs right now is someone to support him, be there for him, and remind him that he doesn’t have to go through this alone, so that’s what I’m going to do for the time being.
