...See more I've been for several counselling sessions, but I don't think it's working. Don't get me wrong. The counsellor was amazing, the problem lies with me. I can talk to her about events & incidents just fine. But everytime we talk about how I'm feeling, I instinctively lie to make it sound like I'm doing better than I really am. I've tried some suggestions from her, which included talking to a friend about my depression. It only made me realise how talking about my depression is very unhelpful to me. I'm honestly sick of constantly being miserable, and I just want it to go away. I exercise & try to eat right. I've taken the suggestions from counselling. But I just don't feel like it's improving. I know there'll be suggestions of persevering with the counselling sessions or changing to another counsellor, but I am really not a fan of talking therapy. I don't know where to go from here, but I don't want to be stuck with depression for the rest of my life..

...See more I've been to two counselling sessions. Talking about things that have happened is easy enough, but I found it difficult to be honest when it came to talking about what was going on internally. Also, deep-rooted politeness prevents me from giving feedback to my counsellor. I knew counselling wasn't going to be a magic cure-all, but it feels like I'm not making any progress. I haven't told anyone about being depressed, & therefore have to sneak around for my counselling appointments. Wondering whether it's worth it. Going for a third session & hoping that third time's the charm...

...See more My first counselling session is tomorrow & I've been struggling internally the whole of today as to whether I should cancel. Chickening out would be far too easy at this stage

...See more I feel like it's unfair for me to be this sad about it. Because it's a thousand times with words for my partner & his family.

How is it like at a counselling session?

...See more I've been thinking of getting help for my depression. It's been going on for a long time, but lately it's been getting a lot worse. I'm afraid that this time I won't be able to get out of this rut. My university offers counselling services so I thought that maybe counselling could help me. But it's difficult enough for me to open up to those who are close to me. The idea of being vulnerable in front of a stranger scares me. If I could get a better idea of what it's like, I may be less afraid of it. Anyone able to share their experience? Did it help you? Was it uncomfortable?

...See more I don't even remember when it started. I've frequently wonder whether I have depression. It's gotten worse in the past few months. Things that used to interest me lacklustre. Most mornings when I wake up I wish I hadn't. I go through everyday tasks on autopilot. I've never told anyone about this. Because I'm afraid that they won't take me seriously. Or worse, they'll be afraid of me. - A friend of mine was telling a group of us about her friend who got dumped. He called her up saying that he was having suicidal thoughts. Everyone laughed, I followed. One person said, "I glad I don't have friends like that." Someone else told me that she had broken up with her boyfriend. He confessed that he was depressed & was on anti-depressants. She said that she didn't want him to weigh her down. Both occassions, I felt a stab in my heart. - Some people might tell me that I should seek help. But I'm too embarrassed (& scared). I'm hoping that one day it'll just go away on its own. Or maybe I'll just learn to live with it.
