...See more That broken place she went to as a little girl  Now shimmers before her once again  Not a mirage  Just a haunting  She is somewhere else now Numb to the touch  She can’t hear you. She can’t see you.  She is a ghost.

...See more Feeling restless but wanting to sleep more and not get done the tasks I need to. I am doing them little by little but it feels not enough. And have a family member who is going through a health thing who has mental health issues too and they are constantly calling and I’m not in the mindset or don’t had the spoons to deal- I told them I can talk or call back if they call one time in a day. But due to their mental health/aging /memory they are not following this. And I don’t wish to be harsh, or feel like I need to justify my boundaries and what I can give. I’m helping in the ways I am able to. And I guess feeling a little lost or like the rest of my family is not really seeing where I’m at, as I’m dealing with a lot right now personally too aside from this. I kinda feel like I just want to completely shut down. Does this make sense? It’s hard to take care of myself right now let alone anyone else. But like I said I’m helping from afar as I can.

Avoidant friendships

...See more Have you experienced these before? I’ve read in the threads others being in the same boat with fair weather friends or those who jump ship after some time. Avoidant types tend to shrink away at closeness or intimacy as it’s something they fear. So it’s not you- really, it’s their past traumas affecting their current life and relationships and world view. So that they see it as a threat when you want to get close. And they are not ready to face these traumas or emotions so they pull away and if you try to pry, they see it as an attack.

...See more Has anyone experienced a close female friend go suddenly ghost? Would like to make new friends but is so challenging as an adult, not to sound cliche. Dealing with trauma, moving, makes it harder. Would you reach out or let the friendship go as a sign it’s time to move on and start anew? If this has been a pattern with the persons poor communication.

Listener

...See more I’m new on here so don’t know the protocol. But it seems the listeners I’ve gotten either didn’t follow the guidelines (not in an overt harsh manner or anything) but simply that they seemed not to be able to truly engage and listen. I had one ask a question about what type of abuse I experienced which seemed tone deaf, as it might not be the best strategy to ask abuse survivor certain questions. As that can feel threatening or like they have to defend themselves and make the abuse seem valid to the listener if that makes sense. So I didn’t really find the help needed here yet with that.

...See more My best friend suddenly dropped off all contact after she couldn’t make plans to get together, and it made me feel rejected. She even shared she had rejection sensitivity. And I do as well. So feeling a bit jilted so to speak or abandoned as she knew I was going through this hard time. And seemed fine before. I expressed she could always talk to me. And now she just leaves me hanging. Ironic ?

Emotional eating or out of habit as a coping mechanism ?

...See more I’ve been dealing with the ending of an abusive relationship. Where he tried to fat shame me, ( and he was also struggling with his weight) at times while other times complimented me especially at the beginning. I tried to lose weight even though I still looked good and many other people found me attractive. But I wanted to get healthy for myself and look better, and so I accepted what became more and more control and fat shaming on his part. But when I realized I wasn’t happy with him and started asserting myself, he got worse. And constantly criticized me not just for my weight, but any little thing. Now I’m overwhelmed and dealing with a lot of things at once. And find myself just eating to deal with emotions or boredom or anxiety or sometimes it seems out of habit once I start I mindlessly continue or don’t want to stop, can’t stop even if I tell myself I will.
