Listener Discussion Leader

A Discussion Leader is someone who leads guided discussions in the Listener Group Chats (and is also known as Host). Discussion Leaders host guided discussions to foster healthy, uplifting, learning conversations among listeners. These discussions offer knowledge, guidance, and tips to utilize in the listening process.

We look at a number of factors when evaluating the discussion leader application but the key ones are:

  • Verified listener
  • At least 5 Listener Group Chats
  • Not have a Newbie badge
  • Co-host at least two sessions with an experienced host prior (Part of the Training)

Peer Support

When someone has experience with listening and is motivated to assist others with their listening challenges, they become peer support. Their role is to help fellow listeners through their difficulties. Peer supports are committed to supporting the listener community, regardless of how long they have been on the site. When someone needs it, everyone can receive peer support. We don't have to face our struggles alone.

Basic Criteria:

  • Verified Listener badge - read more here
  • 100+ 1-on-1 Member Chats
  • Be with the community for 4 + weeks
  • 2+ Listener Group Chats (25 messages = 1 listener group chat)
  • 4+ positive written reviews
  • No behavior reports for 3 months.

Listener Room Supporter

It is a great opportunity to be more involved and gain experience in the room, a way to practice, and gain a better understanding before stepping up to becoming a Chatroom Mentor/Teen Star. We encourage everyone who is interested in becoming a chatroom mentor or likes to support the rooms to take this role for a learning experience.

How do I become a Listener Chatroom Supporter? (Adults)

Step 1: Ensure you fulfill the basic requirements to become a Listener Chatroom Supporter. Please go to your profile and ensure you have at least the following:

  • Be an active participant in the Listener Chatrooms for at least a month prior to applying (no newbie badge)
  • 2+ written text reviews
  • 20+ Chats (1-1 with members)
  • 25+ Listener Group Chats
  • Taken the Listener Oath HERE
How do I Become a Listener Chatroom Supporter? (Teens)

At least have 10 Listener Group Chats

At least have 10 1-1 Chats

No Newbie Badge (i.e. listener for at least 4 weeks)

Completed Training Guides on

Zero Behavioral Reports in the last 3 months

Chatroom Mentor

This role focuses on building and fostering a supportive and group-learning environment for the listener community. Chatroom Mentors/Teen Stars ensure that listener chatrooms are inclusive, safe, comforting, kind, and supportive to all the participants.

Chatroom Mentors facilitate productive conversations and foster a supportive and uplifting environment that is necessary for listeners to learn, improve and better themselves in their listener journey.

Ensure you fulfill the basic requirements to become a chatroom mentor/teen Star. Please go to your profile and ensure you have at least the following:

  • 10+ written text reviews
  • 100+ member chats
  • 75+ Listener group chats (LGCs)
  • 10+ Group chats
  • 30+ listener guides
  • 4+ Weeks as a Listener Chatroom Supporter
  • Taken the Listener Oath

Chat Support (any mentor track)

This is a role that all mentors/teen stars are asked to apply for in order to gain additional skills and knowledge so they can give on-demand chat support with different topics and situations that arise on 7 cups, specifically in member chats. The Chat Support mentors can be found in the Listener Chatrooms and are identified by their purple ‘Chat Support’ badge. Only mentors who have attended Chat Support training are allowed to help other listeners with their member chat or chat-related queries.

If you are having trouble chatting with a member, you don't need to worry; Chat Supporters are there to help you. They will walk you through your member chat.

Note: The Chat Support training is mandatory for all the mentors, irrespective of their mentorship track.

Chatroom Mentor Leader

As a Chatroom Mentor Leader, you will be responsible for leading a team to execute a specific project and ensure its success. You will be required to set goals, coordinate and support a team, and track the success of the project.

This is a very special role, which requires you to creatively problem solve and use your community-building skills! If interested in moving up into an ML role, contact Chatroom Ambassadors EmmaE or hopedreamlove.

Chatroom Ambassador

As a Chatroom Ambassador, you will be responsible for promoting listener group chats in the listener community. You will be working closely with the listener community and leadership team to ensure that all participants have a positive and supportive experience while in the chatrooms.
