What do you write? I used to write poetry and short stories. It felt great!

@amiablePeace77

Hope I can post I'm 32 so figured close enough

What is one this new positive habit you developped this year and one negative you dropped ? I did get into a regular exercise routine and kept it up for the most part since the gym is out. A negative trait I dropped ? Hmm I'm not sure exactly. I don't feel like I've been making much progress with my PTSD but I am reading a self help book about it

If it does not apply to you for this year, what could be those for next year? To hopefully be in vocational services and employed somewhere. I spent a few years on disability and it's impossible to get hired for any job now :/

@honestLand744

Hey that's awesome! I find exercise is so important to keep us healthy, physically but also mentally. yes There are many fitness videos on youTube too which can be so uplifting when gym is closed.

Sorry though to hear about your PTSD, hugs. it can make life very stressful. I hope that coming here and the self help book will help. May I ask what's the title?

The virus situation changed a lot in peoples' lives, I wish you all the best for finding a job 🤞

@amiablePeace77 Thanks and yeah I love exercise! Especially yoga or hiking with podcasts

The holidays really suck I really can't pretend to be ok with my parents after all they put me through. It called the body keeps score and there's a cbt workbook that goes with it. WORD OF WARNING like 60% of that book sucks. It's pretty much really triggering stories and information about PTSD and the last 40% talks about what to actually do if you have PTSD. Mainly focusing on the lymbic system is where I'm at right now. Apparently massages really help and there's an introductory massage that's pretty cheap nearby.

Thanks for sharing and also thanks for the warning. I do find massages very helpful, very relaxing.

There have been a lot of habits that I started this year: journaling, working, getting out and seeing people, if not every day at least every other day.. I'm fortunate in that my work is considered essential so that covers most of that.. but its part of self-care because its become obvious that I'm leaning toward extrovert heavily now that there's been an extended lockdown due to covid.

Things that aren't necessarily harmful or negative that I dropped this year. Fiction books, ice cream, most tv series and movies, anything that I couldn't tie to something I wanted to do or acheive or someone to be doing something with (even if we were both online).

@AvidGamer293

It seems that you have given thorough thoughts to what really makes sense to keep and what to let go in the last year.

My new habot is I started skateboarding for the first time, at 46. I just ride around my neighborhood and cruise, and it helps get me out and exercise, whoch are both important for keeping my anxiety under control.

One habit I've been trying to break is use of the word "just." I found myself saying it all the time, as a means to diminish myself or my opinion, especially if it's one I'm afriad others will disagree or argue with. I haven't eliminated it altogether, but I'm at least more concious of it now.

@WEDway1971

Awesome WEDway! I hope you will have lots of fun too. I always found skating (not board just skating boots) very liberating and mood uplifting. laugh I hope it will help you with your anxiety too.

Trying to exclude or reduce words which diminish yourself sounds very mindful and kind towards your own person.
