Panic attacks and anxiety
Have continued to get worse with age. I always assumed that with age came wisdom on how to deal with with anxiety but I've just came to realize I can't stay on top of mine without therapy and medication. And sometimes that doesn't help completely.

Hi there, yertle.
I'm sorry to hear that your anxiety and panic attacks have got worse with age. I wanted to congratulate you on persisting with therapy and meds. I'm glad they help a bit, so it's good you are doing things to take care of yourself. But I totally imagine the frustration that they are not enough to completely resolve your anxiety. Anxiety is impacted by so many things, of course it is challenging.
There's a saying I like about wisdom. Although I can't say I've found that wisdom mysrlf yet.
"grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can change; and wisdom to know the difference."
Sometimes I find that just allowing myself to be afraid helps more than wisdom.
If I could be there for your next panic attack, would you like to hold my hand?
I have no idea how to deal most of the time with my anxiety, PTSD and panic attacks. I just turned 47yo. I managed to get along fairly well for years and suddenly it’s exploded and I’m a hot mess. I just got diagnosed ADHD and OCD and told that I wasn’t bipolar like I was diagnosed 20 years ago when my daughter was an infant.
So.
Deep breath.
I know I’m triggered as all get out but this doesn’t change that I’m having high anxiety through the stratosphere too. And Mercury isn’t even in retrograde right now!

I get it. I've learned from my studies in college (some time past) that people tend to mellow with age and anxiety gets alleviated. I think the past few years have had an opposite effect as a result of life circumstances for me as well. But on the other hand people will always sort of need to deal with themselves, regardless of age or situation. That is my view anyway. I agree though a repreive of anxiety would certainly be welcome considering the burdens of middle life aren't particularly fewer than those of younger age. In my experience at least.
@yertletheturtle My panic attacks come with severe nausea and vomiting to the point where my fiance has thought about taking me to urgent care. Vomiting even with an empty stomach, on top of crying and shaking. Most of the time, these are caused by needing to do something important - making an appointment, going to an interview, those kinds of things. It's gotten worse since we had to move to a new place, and I haven't been able to figure out how to get it under control. It's definitely gotten worse with age, too.
