Parents
I just had my first scare with my mom. She fell when I was away. She ended up breaking 3 bones on her leg and ankle. I have never felt that much anxiety in a long time. My head went straight to the worst.
They are trying to put her in a temporary physical rehab for a few weeks. She had to get surgery.
I guess I'm just asking what everyone else has done for anxiety and to stay calm during parent issues. I'm just not ready to lose my parents and now that's all I'm thinking about.
@HikingMelissa that is really scary. Sending support and wishes to you and your mum. My parents are also reaching an age where illness and injury are becoming bigger worries. Fraid I don't have any suggestions for navigating that type of anxiety but wanted to wish you all the best on your journey to figuring it out.
@HikingMelissa I have gone through the anxiety of losing one. Some how managed to act strong to keep my siblings strong…. Eventually their strength made me more stronger and moved on much quicker than expected. But one thing you will regret is, for more you can done for them even if you have done a lot. Its never enough.So this is to all my friends…. Spend as much time with them…. All they want is your time.
about ur mom, my mom had the same experience…. My dad took care of her so well even though they were old. He carried her to toilet coz she was bed ridden then. She would have gone through a trauma if it was after Dad died. She wouldn’t be comfortable for many reasons but mostly for we going through trouble because of her.
Take good care of her, make her comfortable you will forget about your anxieties while you notice bond between you is still getting better.
I know how you feel. I live in a completely different country than my parents, and it's not because I wanted to. It's a long story. I have kind of accepted I cannot be there, but the truth is you can be there for her in other ways, by calling and checking up on her, talking with other family members might help. Since you are so far away, that is all you can do. I know it's hard, I do not know your mom's circumstances but you are not losing her yet. She is still here! My mother is now 81 and I know for a fact her health is getting worse and worse, I am accepting it, and the fact that life is finite for everyone! But you can still be there for her while she is still alive, it's not too late! I have been going through for years with my family, and they went to the hospital multiple times. I went to visit them when I could, they have someone helping them. Unfortunately this is a part of life. Don't feel bad, going to visit if possible can help
I really hope this helps you in some way. I wish you all the best!
Yall are parents right how do you tell your mom that you self-harm yourself
@greenPal660 HI no I am not a parent, but if you have a supportive parent or another relative, sibling or other person in your life whom you know you can trust, I would talk to them about your issue.
If you do not feel comfortable with anyone close to you you can call a help line and talk to them as a start.
I would definitely let your mom know if she is supportive, I am sure she would only want the best for you and would be able to look into helping you out with your problem
I am not sure if this the answer you are looking for, but this was my understanding of the situation based on what you asked
@HikingMelissa
I am so sorry to hear that you're going through this. My dad has less than 2 years left and he's only in his 50s. He is always in hospital for infections and with the amount of times we've nearly lost him I always think the worst. It is hard and all you can really do is try and stay positive and savour every single moment. Something I heard that always stays with me is "feel your feelings but don't stay there too long". Sorry I am not much help but everybody is different and tackle anxiety differently. Wishing your mum a speedy recovery and sending my best to your both.
By the way, I wanted to add something. I am so thankful that you posted here. The reason is that by posting this here, you just made me realize, and I am starting to realize how life goes by so quickly, life is so precious, and we cannot waste one minute of it on the wrong things in life, situations, people, whatever that is. I am truly sorry that you are losing your parent. Again I do not know the situation, I do feel for you. I just came to the realization about something today. It has nothing to do with your post, and I am sorry for intruding but I just remembered something that someone told me and I had completely forgot. It all makes sense now. I realize I have been in a sense wasting my time, but it's our life, whatever we end up doing with it. It's up to us how we live it.
I wish you and your family the best
