Scream in a Teacup
I wasn’t supposed to break.
Not here.
Not in this porcelain room
with its soft napkins
and softer lies.
But I did.
Right in the middle of the tea party,
I shattered.
Voice sharp as a spoon against bone.
Breath too loud,
face too red,
grief spilling like sugar across the table.
They called it overreacting.
Said I ruined the mood.
But they didn’t see
how long I’d been boiling,
how many times I swallowed storms
to keep their cups full.
They saw the scream,
not the silence that came before it.
Not the ache beneath the outburst,
the years of tightening my throat
so no one else had to feel uncomfortable.
A scream in a teacup—
that’s what I became.
Contained.
Delicate.
Unwelcome when shaken.
“Calm down,” they said.
“Just breathe,” they said.
But I was never given space
to fall apart safely.
Only told to hold it in,
and smile.
So yes—
I screamed.
I spilled.
I stopped pretending
that my pain
was something you could stir politely.
And if that makes me too much—
so be it.
At least now,
you finally looked at me
instead of through me.
You have no idea how much this resonates with me. You have shared the exact feelings I have tried to convey, but never quite finding the right words to do so. Thank you for sharing this, you are incredibly talented ❤️🦋

Hi there
You spun a beautiful poem. I loved reading it.
Please just know you are neva to much. You are you with the bruises you have held inside you for a very long time. You have every right to break it's human and you also deserve a voice.
I'm very proud of you!
You are allowed to break@UnlockedSupport
I am willing to listen@UnlockedSupport
All the lies, narcissistic manipulative comments and conversations. Yet you have to swallow the storms, stay contained, delicate, to hold it all in and not break. Yes I love this poem and I feel and understand the pain, you shatter, you want to feel heard. I'm so sorry you have to go through this pain dear.
@UnlockedSupport I have no words 💕. This resonates so much with my life.
