The SEAL technique

For someone or something that has made you annoyed.

This was taught me by my workplace mentor. I share it in the hope that it might help someone else.

My mentor and I used to communicate by email. Often I would write to them after some situation had upset me. I'd describe the situation in a long rant, and then ask "what do I do?"

In response I'd get:

Yep, a picture of a baby seal.

My mentor's theory was that is is largely impossible to be annoyed when looking at a baby seal.

Do you agree?

I called it the "seal" treatment. Of course it wouldn't solve the problem, we'd talk through the situation as well. But, it would get me into a better head space for finding a way forward.

I dare 7 cup-ers to fill this thread with as many different pictures of cute baby seals as possible.

This has got to be one of the most whole-hearted posts I have seen so far in my time at 7 Cups! They're so blubbery (I don't know if that's a real word).

Aw. Thanks. It was just meant for a bit of fun. I'm glad you like it. I was inspired by other wholesome and heartfelt posts on 7 cups, so I hope you enjoy finding those.

Yep, totally blubbery. And I don't care if that is a real word or not, it fits the bill perfectly.

Oh, wow! Did you take that photo? I don't know what I would do if I was that close to so much cuteness.
