What led me to 7 cups.
I'm a ⭐️new⭐️ forum supporter on 35 + and I thought I'd introduce myself by saying a bit about what led me to 7 cups. And part of that was work. Struggles with work life balance and work relationships.
I'm guessing that a reasonable proportion of 35+ users work, so maybe you've been there yourselves. I know from my own experience that work days can become somewhat a never ending sequence of make it through the day from one end to the other. Wake, go to work, go home, chores, go to bed. Rinse and repeat. And when difficult work relationships started making my days miserable, I started to wonder what I was doing with my life.
2 things helped change things.
I discovered that boundaries weren't quite what I thought they were. I hadn't given much thought to my boundaries, because I thought they were pretty standard. For example, people who entered my personal space without permission were rude. Theft is bad because it crosses the boundary between what is mine and what is theirs. It wasn't til someone pointed out that I was annoyed at someone at work because they had crossed the boundary between their job and mine, that I started to realise that I had many more boundaries. I had never considered myself to be possessive about my job, but here it was, I had created a boundary round my role and was offended when someone crossed it.

The second thing that changed things was I got a mentor at work. They were invaluable as an alternative, more experienced viewpoint from outside the situation.

With the help of 7 cups I've been able to change some of those difficult work relationships for the better which has led to better work life balance. I love the way that here we all learn from the experience of others. And I look forward to hearing about challenges you have faced and what worked for you.

Great points on boundaries. Feels like with each step of growth we become more aware of them and how important they are - a continuous discovery process :)

I think of my own personal boundaries as lines that I do not want crossed, or things thst make me feel uncomfortable. As we grow and mature, and create new relationships, those boundaries may need to change along with us.

I like "things that make me uncomfortable". It's a very simple and easily applied definition.
It feels like the list of things from my life that could go under that definition is quite big. Which is quite daunting. But I shall try it out and see.
