has anyone been to therapy later in life?

I've recently turned 37 and things in my life aren't really going as planned (when do they ever). In the past I've turned to therapy, and it somehow helped that when I was younger I could still consider myself in a learning stage in my life. However, at 37 that somehow feels different; I feel like I should have my affairs in order, and turning up with the typical Social Anxiety / self esteem just feels more difficult somehow (I've signed up for therapy all the same but noticing feeling different doing so).

Has anyone entered therapy at a later (35+) age? How do you feel navigating the intersection between expectations of having to land somewhere fruitful, and the discrepancy of actual life if you experience it? I feel I've stagnated emotionally a long while ago, but it is harder dealing with that reality when you are at an age where a form of self-realization is much more the norm.

@sirKeats

do you have a timeline of when people should have their stuff together... if so who made the timeline.... many people have and are doing therapy sometimes for the first time later in life as you have described.

no life does not always go as expected and the funny thing about therapy later is to find someone age appropriate because often younger people have no idea how to help.
