Birthday Around the Corner

My 36th birthday is coming in January. Since I turned 27, each year's birthday I drag. The period of time I feel depressed becomes longer by the year. Each year that passes, I'm reminded of that I'm still single, and how much I want to have someone to share my life with. I'm reminded of how all the people I had once gone to school with are all happily married and here I am. Still not have a stable career, paying off a debt, don't have any friends, and I'm still alone. Living with my parents and older brother, as he divorced and moved back home before Covid. I like my career, but there's no permanent position open, so my number of shifts depend on how many vacation my colleagues have. My position is to relieve vacation. So, seeing the days my colleagues had requested vacation time in the new year, I'll be jobless for the first 3 months. With only one week of work in April and May. Sometimes, I wish my Manager would create a part-time position, so I can have a more stable number of hours of work per week, and get medical benefits.

When will my life change for better? Will it ever change for the better? My birthday is more than 50 days away, and I'm already feeling depressed. How am I suppose to get through this month?~

Try thinking of your birthday as a celebration of your existence. You made it through another year 🥳

I'm waiting for my life to get better too, but in the meantime I'm trying to work towards improving it the best I can. You're doing the best you can too. Don't be so hard on yourself.

Can you look for a different job but in the same field 🤔 Maybe a different company could offer you a permanent position with benefits.

I wish I had more than immediate family members to celebrate my birthdays. I've just been really sad over the years, getting older and still single.

I'm actually trying to start my own business, so if it goes well, I won't have to worry about not having enough money to pay for what benefits would've covered.

@Jaeteuk Good luck with starting your own business, that is an awesome feat, lots of hard work but really worth it too!

Thank you, Misty. I'm really hoping it works out too. If this could replace my current income, I could quit my job or just pick up shifts here and there. It might take more than 2 years to have it up and running though, since I can only spend time on it when I'm not working. I want to aim to have it running before I turn 40. I still have some dreams I want to achieve before I turn 40 too~

@Jaeteuk With your determination, I am not surprised that you have a list of dreams to get through before 40! And I am sure you will achieve them all too!

This year's birthday will be special, for once I'm feeling some difference already. Maybe it's a once in a lifetime where the year 20'23' is the same number. Parents' dinner with friends got changed, so we get to have the family celebration on the same day. I might still buy myself that piece of cake though. This year will be a year of changing. Personal growth in all aspects. My mum even told me one of her friends wants to set up a date for me. A best friend from her daughter's fiance, who is around the same age as I. But my mum says I need to first change my appearance a bit (attire), before she will tell her friend that I want to give it a try. So, I'll need to use these couple of months for the change.

@Jaeteuk I love special birthdays, they can add to the overall celebration. And the date sounds like fun, perhaps we can all discuss attire and clothes for dates at some point?

Discussion for dates will be nice in the near future, Misty. I also have another situation I'd like to discuss, maybe I'll start another post for it.
