Grieving loss of husband
Lost my husband last year on our 15th anniversary. He was only 35. We have 3 children. I honestly haven’t had a moment to really grieve or mourn because I had to be there for my little ones. I’m working but it’s suffering with the tardiness and callouts. I honestly feel like I am shutting down physically and mentally. Is there such a thing as fmla for grief and stress?
Hey @PhoenyxNightmare , welcome to 7 cups.
So very sorry about your loss , can imagine how hard this time must have been for you, having to stay strong for your kids -- it's such a brave thing to do --- trying to be strong while breaking apart inside , I understand feeling shut off , you've lost a partner, and you're allowed to grieve . Please take all your time to accept and process through these tough emotions , your feelings are valid and you are allowed to feel hurt too , okay to not be strong sometimes and allow to feel and cry , and do whatever's necessary and could even make a slight change in how you're feeling .
Thankyou for being a part of cups and for reaching out for support, not easy at all, and I for one am super proud of you .
Offering kind hugs❤
About FMLA , I am so sorry I am unaware how it works, but I see how a leave would be better for you from work , super great to take some time off and just be with yourself and comfort yourself through the pain ... How do you feel about reaching out to the employer, asking them about the provisions regarding Fmla or just about a leave break for you ?
Sending best wishes and love ❤
Thank You Sunshine for your kind words and advice
@PhoenyxNightmare Most welcome, sending hugs ❤ I hope the upcoming days are better for you , hang in tight, okiee🤗
Hi @PhoenyxNightmare,
It's extremely hard, I know. We lost my dad rather suddenly on the 6th of this month and even though me and my sister are all grown, my mom still had a similar reaction initially. She's now starting to get through the denial phase so things are hitting her very hard.
We get "Family Responsibility Leave" here (used to be called "Compassionate Leave") but it's limited to three days a year. My sister doesn't qualify as she hasn't worked for more than four months at her current employer so she had to take personal leave, which is something to consider if you have some personal days still owing to you?
I know, there's not much one can say to help with grieving aside from echoing what @Sunisshiningandsoareyou said.
We all grieve in our own way and in our own time but it's never a easy process.
All of the best.
