I struggle finding listeners too tbh, general queue is a hit or miss mostly

have you tried browsing for verified listeners or those that have good amount of positive reviews?? They are better usually

I had a listener tell me I should've gotten an abortion, when I mentioned having issues with my son's dad, saying it's my fault I still have to deal with son's dad because of having a mutual child, which was 2 or 3 yrs ago. It's pretty messed up to say to someone. My son is amazing, and has been doing good and I don't have issues with son's dad/my ex anymore, as I learnt how to put up boundaries.

I've only found one or two good listeners on here, but that was years ago.

Everyone else has either a) said inappropriate things to me like that guy, b) stated they're busy jumping between chats so they barely saying anything c) don't say anything at all or hardly anything constructive just a "Hmm" [some don't even speak the language they say they do] or d) it's hard to get a hold of the REALLY good listeners who's profile I really click with, they sound like REAL people, who are GENUINE.

I just don't use listeners anymore. The sharing circles are a LOT better[depending around what time you go, some members go there to complain about the mods power tripping, I haven't really seen that happen yet, but maybe it does happen? I have no idea. I'm just lucky I haven't experienced it yet.]

In sharing circle, you have people, both listeners and members who can relate to you. It's more than one person listening to you at once. I haven't experienced anyone being rude yet to those sharing. You get 7mins of the floor for people the listen, and you can always rejoin the queue again to speak.

I like it so far.

However, if you prefer one on one... I'd maybe recommend a therapist who's certified instead of a listener who's a volunteer...or go to the search engine and type "How to Find a Good Listener on 7Cups" or something. I forgot what the forum topic was called, but a 7cups admin I think, made a thread on how to find the right listener..

I've had a hard time find a therapist in real life too tbh, and have done support groups as well... But I found a new company that seems like they may be pretty good, I just got to get my insurance in order and I'll be set!

I know I sounded quite negative about listeners and therapists to an extent but, if you REALLY want one to have 1v1 time, it just takes time. Not all of them are bad, it's just a matter of finding the one that you can click with. It's OK if you feel like it's not working out with that person, I'd move on and find someone else until you find the perfect one.

I just personally gave up for the time being on finding a listener and will try again later when I feel ready. I'm just going to use therapy in real life instead of here on 7Cups because I feel burnt out.
