New and looking for advice

Hello. I am not sure how specific the introduction should be, but I am 36 years old and have struggled with anxiety and depression my whole life. I have a spouse who has spent weeks traveling for work and has weeks yet to go. I don’t have friends due to my anxiety so I have no one around to offer advice. I’m hoping for some help from anyone who has dealt with getting a high cost antidepressant approved by insurance.

To avoid a potentially dangerous trial and error of new medication after new medication, I got a pharmacogeonomics test done. For those who are unfamiliar, the results show how your body metabolizes medications which indicates which medicine would work best for you. I got the results and mine showed very little in the “best working” category. The one suggested by my NP is $308 for 30 days (cash price) and requires a prior authorization. It has been started per the office, but I called my insurance 5-7 times yesterday (Saturday) and got an error message. I will be calling when they open Monday. I am looking for tips dealing with the insurance. I have a limited plan with medical and this will be my first experience with an authorization through my prescription so I am taking any advice I can get. I did check the manufacturer’s website and activated a card but the pharmacist explained without my insurance approval, my discount will be small. (30 days still over $150) It didn’t make sense but the tech tried it every which way and I got a 7 day supply for $15 so I could get the medication started. I fear my discount card has been maxed out for the month. I am not sure if discounts go by days supply like

insurance, but I did what I had to in the moment. Thanks for reading and any advice you can offer.
