Cheri’s Connection Corner - Don’t Attend Every Argument

@SunShineAlwaysGrateful
Hi Sunshine! 😊❤️ Thank you for this great forum post. I could not agree with you more. I choose to not argue but yet discuss. If situations become combative, adversarial, most times I choose to just disengage and not equalize.
Sometimes people that are behaving in an argumentative way are doing it intentionally. This is done by design and what it is that they want, is the "pay off" and the "pay off" for them is to upset you. If I meet them at their level, most times it won't work out so very well. They walk away happy, got what they wanted and the goal was to upset you all along.
Sometimes it can be best to just hear them out, let them "run out of gas" so to speak and then contribute in a productive way if at all possible.
Not true for all situations. There could be moments when someone has had enough and gives another a taste of their own medicine. Best to proceed with caution when doing so. I agree with you. Choose your battles and most wisely.
There is also an interesting concept that I have that goes along with "choose your battles wisely". Sometimes one does not wish to battle. There was no true battle to begin with. In those instances one can let another win all of the battles they want to. In the end, I will "win the war" by finally walking away from them and completely. 😊 Winninggggggggggggg!
*high fives* 😊 and *hugs* ❤️

Welcomes 💕I am glad you appreciated this post.
I agree with your strategies allowing the other to express yet not engage in a “battle” and tire or run out of steam to deflate the situation. The other option otherwise to simply walk away from topics or people that will not be productive.
Winning is peace of mind and keeping friendships and relationships in good mind space for more enjoyable things.
Appreciate you and your thoughts. 🙌🙌🙌🙌😎😎😎😎😎😎😎

@SunShineAlwaysGrateful I run into these situations daily. My husband has been increasingly difficult and demanding. He doesn't remember certain things he deems unimportant until he wants it. Most of the time I just shut down and stand there as he rants. On occasion I speak up, but it makes things worse.
