Face masks

I like not being fully seen. Also, I’m 66 & not trusting of all the maskless ones who say they’re vaccinated or those who grudgingly wore masks only when it was required. Boss & coworkers thought COVID would disappear after election. They don’t believe in science. Retail job. 8 vaccinated NY Yankees just got it. Quitting Monday. Scared about prospects. Plan to keep masking.

I am vaccinated and live in an area with people who don’t believe in vaccines or masks. So yes, I mask. But, in regards to the Yankees, the key point to take away from that is that although they caught Covid, they were asymptomatic. No one said that the vaccine guaranteed you would never get Covid, it would help make sure you don’t end up hospitalized or dead from it. Much like every other vaccine. So I would breathe a little about that. Media only loves bad news so do yourself a favor and read less about the rare cases of Covid among vaccinated folks and focus on the huge number of people who haven’t gotten it at all OR are asymptomatic. Keep wearing the mask. I do. But worry less. Try to start enjoying life a little again.

As an introvert with trust issues, social distancing and wearing a mask work out pretty well for me regardless of any virus.

@TheDreamer

Going through life with being afraid to trust people must be hard, hugs. I hope coming here will help you to heal from whatever caused you to get trust issues, hugs (if you take).

You are very right it really does suck not being able to trust people. Unfortunately life has taught me that letting my guard down and trusting has caused a lot of problems for me. Maybe I can find a reason to trust again but I'm going to have to look outside my family to find it. Thanks for your kind words and encouragement.

@Old1 Personally I love love wearing masks, no one knows me especially with sunglasses . I live in small town where everyone knows everyone and everything about them. I find privacy precious and powerful. I enjoy not being recognized and given the 3rd degree about why I left my long term job suddenly. It's not their business and if I wanted them to know I'd tell them. Ppl are incredibly pushy, nosy and rude. I have a severe condition CPTSD and being questioned on the sidewalk or in a store doesn't help me. The fake concern drives me nuts. And oh btw I'm not on any social media. I love wearing the mask and likely to continue to do so. I haven't even had a cold. Should have done this a long time ago..lol. ABB 💜

I am introverted and not the most attractive person, so I have no problem wearing a mask in public.

Although I have been fully vaccinated since April, I continue to wear a mask. I am in a high risk category and can’t afford to be even “a little” sick.
