Hello People 50+, how are you doing today? 
Recently I read an article which I found very interesting so I decided to make a post about it.
Older Adults Perceptions of Technology and Barriers to Interacting with new Technology
New technologies provide opportunities for making our daily routines much easier, but technology moves very fast and it can be hard to keep up.
Possible barriers are e.g., lack of instructions and guidance, lack of knowledge and confidence, too much and too complex technology, feelings of inadequacy, and comparison with younger generations.
Some research work shows that older adults show a great deal of interest to adopt new technology and willing to learn it but pointed out that there is not enough support, manuals are difficult to understand.

i LOVE technology, and i'm something of a computer wiz, but i've never had an iphone, or anything, and know nothing about them, nor about hashtags, and FB, all that Media stuff is just beyond me

Soul, I like technology because it's surely helpful in some aspects but you are very right in my ops, no good if it's running our lives and we still need to know the basics too in case technology is not available or failing.

Technology to me is all about the improvement of the internet, and computers/phones/tablets etc

I love my laptop but I use all technology I can! When I was training a computer was the size of a room,! The Computer Room didnt house a dozen tables each with a desktop on, it was THE ONE computer lol the size of a room! lol!
I don't like the way the world is so internet reliant now though. I believe that younger people need to have the use of their phones limited, it's not good to be focused on a phone, head down, neck aching, mind reeling with the blue light.
Some countries have banned phone masts from schools and universities, in the UK we still allow them on top of hospitals and schools!

LOLOL< Soul~! i remember writing a program in Basic and using Punch cards to run it on a computer the size of a car~!
THOSE were the good ol' days!

Magic, technology develops so fast. I fully agree to ban phones in schools etc. and also believe that they are sometimes used excessively.

If new technology makes me more stressed and less joyous I will stick with technology that feels good.

Pen, I agree, asking ourselves do I really need it or do I have to create a need so that I can use it makes a lot of sense.

I am a member of the IT group, we use a lot of technology. For me personally, it is A) Computers; PC, Mac, Linux B) my faithful phone C) my not-so-faithful smartwatch.

the first time i took a picture with a phone was this year~! it was my cousin's phone, and when she saw what i had done, she said: Why did you take 17 pictures ? (BECAUSE i couldn't feel the little button move!) 
@GustyOne4U My new phone doesn't make any sound at all when I take a photo, and nothing happens on-screen. I just assume it has taken the shot.

Hehe Gusty, sounds familiar - we both figured it out! It's simply a learning process
what does technology bring to mind? Feelings of ineptness. Sometimes questions about posting quotes or pictures, when you dont know how to do that, makes it hard to be here. But I dont have anyone to teach me. So I have been answering when I can, forget the rest.

I believe it does not make it hard for you only but that you are suffering from it a lot too. Asking for help can be really hard, particularly if you were told "you are expected to know" and that caused fear to ask again but remember there is always a new beginning possible :)
@amiablePeace77 I dont know who to ask for help. People learn a lot when they have kids. I dont. So I just try . If it doesnt work, oh well. But I really would like to not feel so dumb.

Lauren, I can see what you mean, it really feels dumb if you want to do s.th. and can't remember how or don't know at all. What about asking s.o. you feel comfortable with or s.o. whom you know who does those things often?
@Lauren63 I hear you. I am not into posting pictures and have not really learned how to do it. But I do like hearing from all kinds of people because I learn something new from each one of them.
@soulsings but it would be nice to know how to do some things like posting a picture.. But its ok. At least I can type. And can answer.
@Lauren63 if you make a post there is an icon in the line above the text. The 2nd from the right that if you hover over it it says Image. Click on it and put in the URL of the image you want. That might work

@Lauren63 yes there is another step I have not discovered so the pic does not show properly. Maybe someone will provide a full solution.

Hi Lauren, was just wondering about the format of the images you try to insert, not all formats work, jpg e.g. works well.
1) choose the picture you want to share by using Left Click (first finger) on it (until it is alone on the page and shows it's address on the web, and it's size).
2) Right click (Middle finger) and select "COPY" from the little menu that opens;
3) go to the place where you want to post it,, here on 7Cups there is a line of choices at the top of the Post Page;
4) at the far right, next to the smiley face is a square box with mountains in it; Left click on that. another little window will open over the one where you've been (or would be) typing .
4) at the top of the new window is a long little rectangle that says URL at the top; Right Click on that and the little menu should let you select "PASTE"; Left click on that and your picture address will show up in that little search box.
5) go to the very bottom of that "IMAGE PROPERTIES" page, and Left Click on OK;
6) at the top of that window is a little X, which will close that window and your picture should show up on the window where you wanted it.
I realize that 6 steps to copy and paste a picture seems like a lot, but when you've done it 100 times you won't even have to think about it~! best wishes, and if you follow these instructions and they DON'T work, i owe you an apology and a re-write~!

@GustyOne4U I will try your steps. Does it work on the 7 cups app? Or do I need to log on my computer?

gosh, Lauren, ,i don't know anything about iphones, never seen one used,, have touched one, and heard about them,, maybe i could ask my cousin, she has one and sends pics... thanks for that prompt,, i just never even think of iphones

@Lauren63 I am sorry you feel upset by Gusty saying Iphone. What they should have said was Smartphone.
I do not use app either because I do not have a smartphone. There is very good security in the 7cups website and App so this is nothing you need to be apprehensive about in my opinion.
Thanks for asking about the picture. I am going to try that on a computer browser and see how that works for me. Thanks Gusty for sharing that method of posting a picture.
all the social media is less than friendly anymore. some people post more info than needed!

Lauren, I just read your post and want to assure you that you are very very appreciated here, you are part of our family and there is nothing more than we want you to feel that way, being valued and loved.
I had the same problems as you have with posting pictures that's why I mentioned format. Now, what do you think about messaging me and we both post an imagine together, simultaneously, step by step? I am more than willing to show you what I know
