@DanaMH

Dana, this is a very interesting topic.

"Do you like the way you talk? If so, why? If not, how can you view it more positively?"

It happens that at times I regret how I express myself. to see it more positively, I can tell myself, if I could have done better I would have.

That is great and knowing sometimes that we can do better also in some conversations also. Sometimes when I know I am going to say something I count to 5 and that 5 can be many times and then talk.

@DanaMH

true Dana, I try to count as well. It happens though that when emotions are too strong I have difficulties to find the right words, not always but it happens. I had to learn to stop beaten up myself for it and telling myself that was the best I could do at that moment, knowing for the next time I'll change it.

Knowing you can change it helps a lot also. Great that you are counting also.

Hummm. I don't much like the way I sound - very country. I try to use good grammer so that I don't com off as a hick.

@MissPen that's ok - nothing wrong with country :) I was wondering whether to answer both speech and content :)

I believe I express myself well. Both in my writing and my speech, all my schooling come back to me and I am able to speak and write clearly.

Hmm... I'm not sure if you mean my voice or my manner of speaking so here is how I feel about both.

I don't hate my voice but I do think it's a bit deep for a five-foot, skinny young girl with a shy, awkward demeanor... hate listening to recordings of myself talking so I guess I'm not overly fond of it...

As for my manner of speaking, I have two opinions on that because I have two means of speaking... I like the way I can express myself non-verbally (i.e., my written words are often a good deal more eloquent than my speaking words). My verbal communication is limited by extreme social shyness and awkwardness, and an unfortunate tendancy to say 'um', 'er', 'oh man', 'hokie doodle', 'oh my', 'hmm', 'uhhh', and a host of other awkward phrases that don't make for great conversations. If I could communicate solely via the written word I'd be happy :)

I think a lot of us don't like listening to our voice especially our recorded voice I know I don't. I feel that it is changed. Expressing ourselves is very important, when speaking we also have less time to think about the words while we write things we have more time and can edit them.

Hi there, I just wanted to mention that some people find "deep voices" very nice, very good and kinda healing for the ears, I am one of them.laugh

@DanaMH I like the way I talk . Since I got my hearing aids I talk even more because I hear what others are saying and don't have to guess at what they are saying. That made for some interesting conversations in the past.

@mutter3

That is great that you like the way that you talk. Hearing aids help a lot, I know my in-laws wear them and they can hear me better and can communicate in the conversation which you have discovered yourself that you can hear what others are saying to them so they can respond also. I agree about the interesting conversations in the past prior to them getting the hearing aids or when they don't wear them.

Welll, I think I do. I can be straight but also diplomatic. If I react to something negatively, I step back, reassess and then comment calmly.

Was I always like that? Yes and No. Being shy and not liking crowds and/or strangers I didn't always speak but sometimes something would be said and I reacted.

There are still occasions I react but mostly I wait to calm down and discuss it calmly.

That is a really great approach to chatting with others. Sometimes what I do also is count and think about what I am going to say to someone. I count to 5 and that 5 can be many times. Talking to them calmly is very important.

In arabic my native language i dont like the way i talk its so messy and crazy i always wished i would be quieter and more cinvilized in the way i talk and have a good acceptable accent .

in English i speak in metaphores and expressions a lot always seem quite official .but i dont know if that is okay or not

@tidyJar6514

I do like some folks accents here in the US like those that live down south. I also have a friend that is Italian and love her accent. I would think talking in metaphors and expressions would be ok depending on what they are and who you are talking to.

Sometimes the peculiarities of the speech that we are used to speaking can push a person away from you. Yes, this is a truth of life. There are already boring stereotypes to certain nations. The doctor recommended cbd oil to me https://www.marijuanabreak.com/top-answers-for-cbd-searches-on-reddit so that the speech became more distinct and soft. You know, it helped)

HI, interesting that you mention that. How long have you been using it and are there other things it has helped you with also? Some folks were trying to find folks that have tried it in the past.

I talk lower than my natural voice (told to me by a singing teacher). I dont like my voice and my best way of dealing with it is not to think about it. Luckily it stands in line behind other bigger things that need working on 😉
