(Thread closed) Day 19: Do you have an activity that makes you feel alive and good within yourself?

The activity that makes me feel alive and good is square dancing since it is fun and we are always laughing when we dance.

Do you have an activity that makes you feel alive and good within yourself?

Do you have an activity that makes you feel alive and good within yourself? OK, skiing always makes me feel very alive and good. Wish I could do it more. Playing my music helps a bit, but it is not as good as skiing.

Skiing with all that fresh powder sounds fun and using your 5 senses for your surroundings. Some amazing pictures also. I know we used to snowmobile and had so much fun with that. Both are great exercise also. Playing music is a great coping skill also.

Those are all great coping skills. I don't remember if I asked you this before but what types of things do you like to read?

@DanaMH Tai Chi makes me feel more alive physically and mentally. I exercise my body and mind and it allows me to focus on the positives in life and not hold on to negativity.

I used to have lots and was forced to give many up.

Now things are more complicated, there are some things where I am glad when I can do them but they can also make me sick. I always love spending time with my nephews but I don't enjoy how much it exhausts me and it can be hard when I want to do more with them and am unable to.

Totally understand that. Here is a list of coping skills that maybe you can find something that can help that you can enjoy. I know I had to find some new things myself.

@DanaMH I don't think that's going to help. I don't think of coping skills as equating to activities that make me feel alive and good. I have activities that I can enjoy safely most of the time, but I wouldn't describe them as things that really make me feel alive.

If it's something that really sparks that liveliness type of sensation it's probably also a trigger.

Sorry that it is like that for you. Hope you do find some more things that will work for you.

@AffyAvo

Hi there.

Reading how things are for you it made me wonder if actually feeling alive feels triggering sometimes because feeling alive actually feels too intense? If it does feel that way do safe sensations help at all? Like wrapping yourself up in a warm, soft blanket or drinking something soothing? My fave is hot chocolate! Im glad that you do have things that you can enjoy safely for a while at least though.

@Kikumars It's not that it's to intense. I just associate really feeling alive with doing active things, and being active is a trigger for my health conditions.

@Lonelygirl140 hi there. Welcome to fifty plus subcom where we talk about issues facing people in the middle of life. I see that you are in a thread about challenges we face. If you want to please PM me what the challenge you face as I am not sure what you mean by "tie myself up" and how that relates to this thread.

Hope you get the support you are looking for.

@DanaMH it is spending time with them usually winds up being the best part of the day even if we aren't really doing much of anything they are just cool to be around and funny as all get out. Morgan and Shuri(shuri is the baby on the right) These are the girls although the little one just had a birthday on Christmas Day so she's just turrned one year old. Morgan is two....

Do you have an activity that makes you feel alive and good within yourself?

Brung outside picnicking with friends, walking about, and maybe taking sometime to draw or paint.

That sounds enjoyable. We haven't had a picnic in a while. Maybe when it decides to stop raining we can do that on a nice sunny day.
