@DanaMH Telling myself I can do this. Being happy where I am. Being able to forgive myself and others. I looked up the dictionary definition- confidence in one's abilities and self respect. Yeah I think they match💖

@DanaMH to me self esteem is how I identify myself and how much I do or do not judge that identity. When my identity is no longer working it is time to reinvent myself.

Not judging yourself is very important and that is what DBT teaches also. Glad to hear that you are reinventing yourself when needed.

I don't know if there's a standard dictionary definition of what healthy self esteem is.

I see healthy self esteem as seeing the good in oneself while also recognizing weaknesses and things that could be improved upon. Over the long term the way one views themself is mostly positive, although there can be low moments within that.

For me, healthy self-esteem is when I am not being hard on myself at all. Those days when I can just let myself be me, and enjoy that.

To me self-esteem is how I respect myself, see me as valuable as anyone else on this planet (because I believe we are all valuable) worth of love and regard just as I am.
