Validation is important to our self-esteem. Do others encourage you? If not, what are some ways that you can ask them to so your self-esteem is improved?

I get lots of validation in some parts of my life - mostly my hobbies. Some, but not much validation on my job. Not sure how to address that. i think there is a big fear amongst management that if you tell someone they are doing a good job that person will in some way try to take advantage of the situation (ask for a raise, more time off, etc.)
That is great to hear that you have validation with your hobbies. Maybe you can ask coworker or your boss for validation at work? Or ask HR (Human Resources) for ideas.
@MissPen
@MissPen I found validation at work lacking in ways that mattered like compensation. Often times they would give out plaques or token rewards and at the same time make it more difficult to grow and keep ahead of rising expenses.
@DanaMH
I feel very validated here from my mentor @Soulsings, you, @ RumpleSteeleSkin, my super twinny @Saifelhak74 to mention a few, but it's actually the whole site. I get a lot of validation also by what I do with my plants, at the moment a lot from my art and of course from what I am learning. It helps to make me feel confident.
Thanks - That is so great to hear that others are validating you and art is a great coping skill and excited to see some art work that you complete. When we learn things it does make us feel good and more confident about things.

I have several friends that encourage me. They are quick to tell me when I'm doing something right. Just today I had one friend tell me, " I've never seen you this happy. You have worked hard to get here,I'm proud of you!! " What a self esteem booster💖💗❤💕
That is great that you have several friends that do encourage you because that is very important to have in your life. That is so awesome they recognized that you where happy and said something as validation because sometimes we aren't aware of that by ourself. It also feels good when others are proud of us which is a large self esteem booster.
@mutter3
I live pretty much validation free. I have learned not to rely on being validated by others and to just keep going. I guess I validate myself by doing that.
I don't get validation from friends, they are all too self absorbed to think about others.
As for work, I never regard the "transparent" validations like "employee of the week" etc as much because those are contrived. Maybe I could start thinking of them as meaningful, but I'm not sure I want to fall into the corporate fakery trap.
I think I'm stronger if I just don't go looking for validation, and learn to just DO because I do.
