Monday morning 03:17 I am struggling with my emotional health. The grieving of my father has me waking up crying I miss him so much. I am 56 but feel like a little boy who just wants his daddy. Life is so hard right now I am all alone and just want to feel loved and safe and told it is all going to be ok. I feel so broken some times. I have been through so much and lost so much and just keep trying to make sense of it all. I miss the days I used to have close friends I could lean on when times were tough. I had to leave California where that was when I faced financial crisis and my second failed long term relationship to be close to my father. Now he is gone it really feels like me against the world. I wonder if I will every find love or happiness again. Will my life just be defined by more physical and mental pain and loss. God why am I here? What is my purpose and what will you have me do until I go on to the next plain of existence? I feel like I have cried a gallon of tears and I still feel like crap. Please have mercy on my soul....

Hey Matey, so sorry for you , sending hugs from the UK ( its lunch time here) hope you feel better as the day goes on . Can you get out for a walk into the countryside it will really help ! You can cry in peace and maybe try to look at the lovely nature . Even if you live in a city there are always birds to look at . Ive been learning birdsong , a distraction really helps

seeming the warmest of hugs to you@bgdave

@mooboxer

Thank you for reaching out I need to discover new meaning and happiness in my life. I struggled so hard today I was unable to get out of bed and spent my entire day sleeping in depression. I know this is not healthy and will not help my recovery.

@bgdave

Hi dave, how are you doing today?

When I feel really down it helps me going for a short walk somewhere where I like it, like to the beach, to a park. What are your favorite places? HUGS

@amiablePeace

Thank you for your kindness. I love the beach and the mountains as I lived in Southern California for 40+ yrs and am a scuba diver. Unfortunately due to financial crisis and nowhere to go in California I needed to relocate to Utah in 2015 and due to an unfortunate string of events I lost my automobile. It is very hard not having my own transportation as I did my whole life. I am now struggling with degenerative disc disease and spinal facet syndrome which causes a lot of pain and has interfered with my job and the hours I have been able to work and get paid for. My medical bills have taken the majority of my earnings so I have not been able to get a car. I do walk some but it is still painful even after I have received Rhizotomy treatment on both sides of my spine to branch nerve block L1 - L5. My Neurologist advised it can take up to a month to notice the maximum relief. I am doing what I can to be as positive everyday it is just hard being alone and grieving the recent loss of my father 3-11-19 and the darn depression. I know things will change I just need to keep moving forward and going to see my therapist. I was fortunate that my employee assistance program has given me 8 sessions with the therapist I was seeing before I ran too short on finances to continue. Hugs 🤗

David

@bgdave I had to leave Hawaii after living there 40 years. Now living in Baja California, Mexico. Not bad, but not Hawaii.

Sounds like you are dealing with a lot, but making the right moves with therapy.

What helps me is to think of 3 things that have happened in the last 24 hours that I can be thankful for. Just little things like "I had a good breakfast." "I enjoyed taling with friends." "Got to watch one of my favorite TV programs." Helps me to focus on the good in my life.

@Kavajava

I agree gratitude is a powerful force to focus on. I make a gratitude list when I am feeling really depressed and it does help me to be thankful for the blessings that I do have in my life.

@bgdave

You have been through a lot in the last years and on top of that the loss of your dad. Things will change with time and I hope these 8 sessions will help you to get through everything a bit better 🧡. The company/organization you are working for must value you a lot.

Been feeling isolated lately and that I'm on the final leg of my life's journey. Just retired to Mexico after living in Hawaii for 40 years. Was pretty much isolated there, too. Hurt by too many people, guess I just don't want to get close again. Plus it seems easier to be alone--I feel irritated by others. I know it's just angry nature coming out, something I've been working on through meditation. Reaching out to this group and some others to at least make some kind of social connection.

Kava, thats a big change but sounds it was time to leave and you showed courage to do so. I hope that you will have a better life in Mexico and want to connect with others again more one day. Those were great resources. Thank you so much! I was able to download a copy of the DBT Skills Handbook from Fulton State Hospital.

Thanks again!
