@amiablePeace77 Good morning, Ami!

I'm worried about both my wife's health and my own, I need to make some appointments for myself that I've been putting off for way too long, and my back hurts. Other than that, I'm not doing all that badly.

I did get the appointments made; I went to the more urgent one yesterday -- turns out I was worrying needlessly.

I'm very grateful for my most mindful moment this week! It was yesterday as i was driving home from work. I was driving mindfully - red car, white car, silver truck changing lanes...red car, black car, etc.

As I was seeing the cars in my environment, I saw a car begin changing lanes and then hit a car in my lane. Because i was being mindful I was able to slow down and avoid the wreck.

I think all of my most mindful moments this week were with the cats.

It's really easy to give your full attention to a creature with soft fur that's sitting in your lap and purring. (Cats take full advantage of that fact.)

@amiablePeace77 I think the best thing is when it is hot I dial back my reaction time so I do not act from my overheated self.

I am feeling the pain from the Rhizotomy branch nerve block on the left side of my lower spine yesterday. It can take up to a month to feel the full benefits of the right and left sides. I feel so incredibly lonely and unwanted. I am trying not to obsess about the loss of my father but the grief is still very fresh. When I am tired and alone in bed at night I miss him very much. I am not sure how to change my low self esteem and find positive supportive friends?

Hi and nice to see your post. So sorry you are in pain and suffering grief, its like a physical pain too isnt it. I lost my Dad a while ago and it was the hardest most painful thing. I wasnt ashamed to call the Samaritans and cry when I was at my lowest ebb. All I can say is that it does get easier with time. Keep talking to us Sending hugs @bgdave

@mooboxer sorry for the loss of your dad. When I lost mine I found support groups help because the people there all experienced grief and I did not have to explain anything.

@soulsings, @mooboxer, @bgdave -- you have all my sympathy. Dad died 20 years ago, and I still occasionally find myself wanting to call and tell him something. Journalling and other writing helped me a lot, but your mileage may vary.

@stressBear sorry to hear that you still grieve. What I found is the grief is still there but I have reinvented my life and focus on other things. So I am having to live a new life. It is different but accepting change has helped me go on with life in a new way.

@soulsings Thanks. Yeah; grief changes over time, and it changes the griever. One comes to terms with it. It's like an old back injury. At first it hurts to even think about moving. Then, with self-care, you can get around, better and better. But every once in a while you get a sharp little twinge that reminds you that, no, you don't bend that way anymore.

Hi, I am glad you reach out, we are here for you to help as much as we can. 🧑 Grieving takes time and its good to reach out and talk. Do you think you would benefit from support groups irl like GriefShare in additional to coming here or volunteering somewhere?

I hope it will not take a full month but get better much faster. I find when having emotional pain every physical pain hurts much more HUGS.

Hi I'm Chaz, new to 7C and acoordingly to this community. I am at my parents' house this weekend seeing them for the first time in over 7 years. It's not as bad (so far) as I thought it would be but it's hard. At times very hard. It is late, well after midnight, and I said goodnight to them about an hour ago. I wanted some time to myself. They have a huge house and I have a nice room to stay in but it's not such a huge house that they can't see the light on in my room, and though i am like half a century old I still feel apprehsion (not fear, which is progress!) about taking time for myself while they are still awake. In the past that has been a giant issue, among a ton of others. My parents are quite elderly but still pretty aware and my mother has fibro and is in poor health. However she remains incorrigible as ever. At the moment i can hear them fighting though i can't make out what they're saying. It still makes me as uncomfortable as it did when I was a child. I have until Tuesday morning here. I hope it comes soon. I'm wearing down from being with them, which basically means not expressing any of my feelings or thoughts at all. Ugh. I feel so alone and sort of in a weird space.

Hope your time goes quick but that you manage to enjoy some of the time with them. Im in the UK so big time difference but still you are not alone here. Sending hugs , Moo xx

hi @chaz11 glad to see you posting in 50+. I hear you that listening to people argue is just so discomforting. I only wish people will try to get along more often.

User Profile: amiablePeace77
amiablePeace77 OP July 15th, 2019

@chaz11

Chaz, I can only imagine how strange it must have felt going home after such a long time. It must be very hard for you staying there and taking care of them whilst hearing them fighting again, knowing nothing has changed with your mom, almost like the story of your childhood repeats itself. It is a kind act of compassion to help them but please do not get lost in it, you deserve your own care too and have to make sure youre doing well.🧑
