50+ community Check-in Oct. 7-9, 2019

Hi everyone in the 50+ community
.
I hope you all had a good weekend and wish you a wonderful week.
This weekend there were lots of things for me to think about, how to do what, when to do what and so on. Sometimes there are just lots of things on our minds and we have to find out what is the best action. So here is an exercise which I find very helpful:
CAUSE AND EFFECT EXERCISE
Contemplate cause and effect for everything that you do for some pre-determined amount of time. This means to think about your actions and how it affects you and the people around you and what changes you want to enter to reverse negative effects.

I know without the exercise, I need to express myself more clearly.. Thanks Ami for always having thoughtful questions.
@Lauren63
Lauren, it helps ourselves and others to avoid misunderstandings. Sometimes als overwhelming emotions can make it difficult to clearly say what we want to say. It's good to become aware of it though so that you can pay attention to it.
@amiablePeace77 this is a great question. so many times in life I felt angry and did not think of consequences before expressing that anger.
I believe I create my own reality with what I express and do in life.

@NormaAnne
Hi there and welcome to 7cups and the 50+ community
. It is normal to feel strange about talking to people you do not know in the beginning but I hope that after having stayed here for a while you will see the benefits of the site and get the support you're looking for. All conversations between you and our listeners are strictly confidential, it is a safe place.
I like to share with you a link I personally find very helpful when starting on the site.

@NormaAnne I find that in a 1-1 with listener it is very safe. If the listener does not respond in a way that feels right to you, you can simply politely tell them "sorry I have to go. thanks for the chat" and try another listener.
If you want to go to group support chat, the nicest way is to attend discussions that are guided by a moderator. For instance, there is a Mindfulness chat on Monday at 3:30 EDT and an Open Chat at 6:30 PM EDT. Both have 2 or more moderators to insure free flowing conversation that is appropriate. Both happen in Group Chats in the Mindfulness Room that opens up 10 minutes before discussion.
