50+ community Weekend Check-in August 14-16, 2020

Happy Friday everyone, I hope you will all have an amazing weekend

Patience is one of those virtues that sounds simple from a distance. However, while the thought of waiting for something you want or need seems easy in theory, it is much more arduous in practice. To become better at patience, it needs to be practised.
One way to practise patience is when you meet an unplanned inconvenience or challenge with calmness, taking deep breaths, your mood remains steady and patient.
What helps me sometimes is simply assuming that the obstacle I face was put in my way because I needed to slow down and take a break
.
How do you practise patience?

How do you practise patience?
I try to either forget about the item I want, or if it is patience with a person that I require, I am trying to keep my mouth shut. Then think about it, and respond further if I think that is the right thing to do.
@purpleTree4652 I try to put myself in the other persons shoes.
@purpleTree4652
Sometimes we even do not need to respond at all so taking a step back is a wise thing to do.
@purpleTree4652 I think not focusing on what we think we lack is a good idea. The more I focus on something the bigger the lack seems.
@amiablePeace77
What a great topic for me now! Impatience is the main cause of my suffering these days, whether it be impatience with myself or others.
I love the idea that the "obstacle" is a signal to myself that means "slow down." Or a bell of mindfulness.
Checking in with myself on my overall condition is my 1st step toward patience. Am I strung out on caffeine, or too little sleep? Have I eaten lately? Am I in the middle of surviving a pandemic? If I haven't sorted myself out 1st why subject others to me? More importantly why let my self-care slip when it's key to my attitude and behavior?
The next most important practice for me in dealing with impatience and other painful conditions, is a preventive program. This includes, daily wellness, diet, exercise, and especially meditation. Meditations and guided-meditations on loving kindness, are most helpful to me in shifting my perspective.
Today I'll recommit myself to all this.
Wishing you all the best, 7 😊🦋
@Seven8Nine when you said mindfulness bell I was reminded of this https://youtu.be/wGFog-OuFDM
Thanks for sharing.
How do you practise patience?
I practice it all the time, I am a very patient person. I just naturally put up with a whole bunch of stuff without any problems.
@Offmytrack that is a wonderful accomplishment to practice patience with a smile.
I take a deep breath, especially in a long line, and sing a song in my head.
@Lauren63 that sounds wonderful. Is that a song others would know or is it your own special song?
