50's Plus Check in thread July 30 to August 5
How's it going everyone? We are so glad that this 50+ subcommunity is growing and hoping for lots of possibilities in the future. Since we are in the middle of changes let's talk about what have we noticed in our life this week that we would like to change for the better in our lives to be more mindful, to help others out, to relieve stress in our lives or to even have more fun?
What I am changing is I went to the Senior Center last Friday and discovered several things that I can participate in and noticed they even have a pinochle day which I love playing that game so excited to start doing that again on a regular basis and get to know others in the community. I am also volunteering more at the local food bank which is great exercise also.

the last two days have been really challenging~! first, an 'update' from Windows corrupted my OS (operating system), so i lost my games, my outlook email and the MS Store, and MS HELP didn't... i still have to reinstall Win10 (thank goodness i made a flash drive, and don't have to spend 8 hrs downloading it!). then yesterday my phone went down~! it will be 7 days before the repair guy can get here~! that is just atrocious~... so finally i hooked my telephone into my computer (apparently it's just one of the inside lines, but it took me 5 hrs to figure that out), and at least i can use the phone now.
anyway, i blew an appointment with a Case Manager to get a new bus pass, and was just able to let her know this morning,, i hate to leave people hanging, and i really hate when it's done to me~! :o "that's my story, and i'm sticking to it~! " :D
@GusteeMoon123
Sorry to hear that your devices shut-off, problably these annoying events didn't help to remember about the meeting with th Case Manager.
Maybe, for the next one, you can help yourself with one of the notes you use to remember things. I hope the hardest part is gone with the past days as well!
Wish you a good weekend ahead!
@GusteeMoon123
So sorry to hear that you had computer problems.
And you couldn't meet with you're case manager for a new bus pass.
Sorry that you couldn't get a new bus pass! 😥😩😖!!
But it will all work out!!
Sending you safe gentle hugs to you. If you want them!
🙆🙆🙆🙆!!💖💖💖💖!!
Hi all - I have company around this weekend so won't be on much until probably late Sunday afternoon after everyone leaves. Hope you all have a good weekend. We will be canning peaches which is our annual get together with 2 other couples so we have the process down to a science.
@DanaMH Sounds delish!
@JolivetteListens
It does sound delicious! 😊😊😊!!
@DanaMH oh that sounds delicious. How about a peach pie? Yum!
@soulsings
Oh yes, we make pie, smoothies breakfast pastires. Now if they would just all wake up since they are still sleeping in. :) Guess that is what happens when some folks stay up until 3am while others of us go to bed at 11pm.
@DanaMH
Yes that's what happens when you stay up!😊!
@GuardianAngel77
Then I fall asleep watching tv so why wouldn't I just go to bed instead? LOL
OK - I was the last person that went to bed last night at 11pm after a Hallmark movie and the 1st person up this morning at 6:45am. See - I can stay awake sometimes.
@DanaMH
Good for you. 😂 😂 😂 😂 LOL
@DanaMH
What was the name of the movie of the Hallmark movie?
I love them.
@GuardianAngel77
It was the one with Catherine Bell last night A Summer to remember which I think is on again today. I also taped but didn't watch yet Love on Safari.
@DanaMH
OK thanks. Have a great one!😊😊😊!
@DanaMH my mon goes to bed at 8PM so I cannot stay up too late when I visit or I sleep very late
@soulsings
Yes I can understand that! 😊😊😊😀!L0L
@soulsings

@GuardianAngel77 I'll bring the Jersey Gold!
@JolivetteListens
What's that? 😮😮😕😕??
@GuardianAngel77 The most delicious milk in all the land! The one on the right comes from Jersey cows. Their milk is rich that its golden. Yummmmy! If you are into that sorta thing, that is.

@JolivetteListens
Oh yes I know about that! I never try it
but I heard that it is delicious and awesome tasting!
Where I live in Texas I can get it at a Health Food Store!
I'll be trying it soon.
i have tried and tried to get into the 60+ forum this morning, with no joy~ anyone know why ?
@GusteeMoon123
Gus - I just tried and it worked. I was thinking it was because you were new but just looked when you joined 7cups so you should have the badges. I am assuming that you have verified your email address already or did you change your email address? Have you tried rebooting your computer since it is the same access as this forum.
@GusteeMoon123 what was your age when you signed up for 7cups?
@GusteeMoon123
I'm sorry for that!
That's must be difficult!
now the +60 forum isn't even showing for me,, but let me fiddle while roam burns, and i'll let you know if it's a continuing problem~
thanks for your concern~
@GusteeMoon123
Everything was moved to this location which is the 50+ forum.
so, i went grocery shopping way too early this morning (my cousin, who gives me a ride, is an early bird); and i decided i felt well enough to push the cart instead of riding it (i'm on Oxygen)... well, NOW i remember why i have been riding carts~!! ooh my aching back and feet! (i'm also over weight, and my feet don't like it)... still i must find some way to get some exercise, and drop about 50 lbs... i know i'll feel better, and move better, and face less social stigma.... (but it IS good to be stocked up for 2 weeks~!)
let me just say, that if you are in the midwest, west or southwest,,, IT'S CHERRY SEASON~! (the peaches aren't quite ready yet, tho).... i'm in little hog heaven~ :D
@GusteeMoon123
Glad to hear that you got some exercise but sorry that you are in pain. Maybe you can start walking everyday some to help with the pounds that you would like to get rid of? I know on rainy days I like to walk at the mall and just look around at things. I have also been volunteering at the food bank so all of that moving and lifting is helping out. Or I save days to go to Costco (big grocery store) for rainy days also unless I really need something. But I always need something with a hungry teenager. LOL
I live in Oregon, US and we just canned our peaches last weekend. Cherries will be ready like in a week or so. Garden has been really good with lots of veggies this year and corn should be ready in about 3 weeks. Lots of fruit around from places that we can pick and freeze and have all year round. We like a lot of smoothies.
@GusteeMoon123 water aerobics is great exercise and easier on the body
