Hi everyone, a question for you
What's the best thing about being 50 and over? I'd love to hear your views:)
@Lucy2
@lucy2 For me there's nothing good about it, but Ill watch this thread to see what others say. Maybe I'll learn something from othere.
That's a shame @Rattles
I thought you were going to share your life experiences and inspire others :) but lets see if we hear from others, take care.
@Lucy2
@Rattles I concur
1 good thing is that there is going to be a new forum for us in the near future to chat in.
@DanaMH is there that's good.
Do what I want :)
@caringPanda45
:P
I have a hard time believing that you didn't do what you wanted when you wanted in your 40s.
@DaveMcGrath ha ha well not really too busy looking after elderly relatives.
but yeah I would have :P
I feel I can ease off on accumulating, and start appreciating. I feel I don't have to take as much, and am being driven to give. Silver hair seems to give me the credit of being smart that all my efforts in my 20s and 30s didn't afford me.
Thanks for your reply @thoughtfulTriangle4746
Love your ideas, we've had so many different thoughts on this subject and all very different, much apprectaed :-)
@Lucy2
@thoughtfulTriangle4746
Being driven to give is a wonderful feeling and comes from a big heart
@lucy2 the best thing about being over 50 is knowing that some of the things you hoped and dreamed about may just never happen. That is like a reality check. Of course some of those were unrealistic expectations like changing the world! Okay so I have had to start small and change myself. That is a good place to start and 7cups is helping me realize my newer more realistic dreams.
Hey there @soulsings :)
You're absolutely right of course, it can be a wake up call for many of us but it can also be a time of reflection and making positive decisions that guide us in the right direction which influence the rest of our lives.
Great to hear from you.
@Lucy2
@lucy2 yes and it can also be a fresh start without all the baggage a young person carries around like other people's expectations. I think being at this point in life there is a certain acceptance of things and moving on with life in a positive way.
@soulsings Yes, and baggage well, that's a whole new post! we all have it and you're right, hopefullly most of us would have been and done with the teen baggage, problem is at our age, we often have a whole new set of luggage to deal with! :-)
@Lucy2
@lucy2 agreed!
some of the best things for me being 50+ and + and...
realizing that it is okay if i cannot change everything i want to (wars, human rights, animal rights as an example) but i can still be part of it trying and knowing i do what i can and that is enough.
knowing i am fine with how i look, my clothing, what i build for the house, because it's appreciated at home and that is enough
i do not have a need to compete anymore, i can run with you but not against you, i do not need to be pretty for others, no. I tell the mirror in the morning "you are pretty" (mirror believes it, hehe)
@amiablePeace77 so you talk to the mirror? So do I? hahahaa
My favorite things is to make funny faces in the mirror when I am having a bad day so I can start smiling or laughing.
@soulsings
nice idea, got to try that too. I show the mirror my tongue sometimes
and tell him "I CAN DO THIS". I do that several times and then I start believing it too, hehe.
@amiablePeace77 oh that is something different.
@soulsings
LOL Soul!
Haha, I like that!
@lucy2
