Self-Care - Spoons - April 22-28 2019

To help you with self-care I found this image to maybe help us figure out how to manage and schedule our self-care to help us better.
What are you doing for self-care and are you using more spoons then you should each day or can you use more spoons then you are currently?

I pay a fair bit of attention to my spoons, as negative spoons = medical emergency most of the time for me.
I find it difficult to do, as the spoons I have in a day is not consistent and the spoons tasks take are not consistent. There's also the triggers that I have absolutely no control over, like the weather, even if I'm indoors that can have an effect too.
Medication helps, I think before I was using blood products I had like 1 spoon many days and would frequently use more than one just going to the doctor, plus there was necessary things like eating.
My self care involves, rest and pacing, multiple medications (as even the lesser things like OTC antihistamines means less triggers overall) and avoiding triggers as appropriate. I also work to increase my strength and endurance as that increases my spoons and/or reduces the spoons that some tasks take but that involves care as exercise itself of course uses spoons and has triggered attacks for me and then certain things like too much repetition or too much pressure are separate triggers.

I like the spoon theory, it makes it very clear what we have and how much we can spend. This morning I did meditation and yoga and in a few minutes I do my evening Tai Chi. I am still learning to be more careful with the amount of spoons I have but also have found ways to increase the quantity.
Spoons. Interesting. I especially like getting credit for getting out of bed and showering! Got a new face dr script for rosacea that is a bit complicated to add to my routine. Wash face. Wait 15 min. Put on medicine. Wait 5 min. Then sunscreen. Then makeup. Repeat at night but do antiwrinkle instead of sunscreen and makeup. This is pretty darned complicated for me. And even if it works I will still be a fat old lady. But since I am not working I have extra spoons around here this week. Going out today to look for work. I enjoy the routine of working and so hope to find a new work "home" again. I thank God for each new day. (+ spoons) It is such a stressful chore to look for work and start a new job for me. Others, it seems, not so difficult. Perhaps they have had more practice doing it. I had the same job for 33 yrs. I havent been out of the house since Friday. (-spoons) Time to go face the world.

Sounds like starting a new routine can be a good challenge and good luck with it and finding a new job. Maybe you can do some self-care of just walking around the block to get out of the house and see what types of plants are starting to grow and use your 5 senses on your walk. You can also maybe go to a park and find a trail to walk on or something else that might interest you. I do agree looking for a job is just like a job which is harder sometimes.
