Weekend Check-In August 9-11, 2019

Happy Friday wonderful 50+ Community. laugh I am always grateful to see you coming here or joining the discussions in 50+. Everyone is beautiful in their own ways but too often, we simply do not see it - others do though.

Today, I like to ask you to have a look in the mirror and recognize and appreciate one thing you like with yourself. Some might say, "there is nothing I like"- guys, look hard, try to see the beauty others can see. Some might have no problems in finding beauty in themselves - awesome!

So what do you find beautiful, it can be inside or outside?

@amiablePeace77 first I want to ask you where you got the picture of me looking in the mirror cheeky smiley

The breath to me me is like a mirror. I put my attention there and it shows me more of who I am.

I am being begged to start another challenge in life and I just dont know if I have it in me. My father passed away last March and now his wife has been alone in their little house. She has Parkinsons disease and in February she fell and broke her hip. Her Dr did a Dexa scan and has been advised she has extremely brittle bones. They advised her if she falls again the result very likely would be many broken bones. I have been a caregiver twice so far in my 56 years on our earth and I know it is not an easy experience. It makes it even harder being in the space that my father no longer is. I miss him very much however there are a few things he and his wife had done to me that I had to learn to forgive them for so that I would not make myself sick with anger. When I was first invited to come live with them in 2015 after a few months they put me in a homeless shelter and I am pretty sure it was my fathers wifes idea. She convinced him that they were enabling me!

bgdave, this is a big challenge. Taking care of others is a wonderful thing provided it will not put you back in a situation which might leave you struggling. What about other options so that you can weigh up which might be the best for her and you?

Good Morning! I am recovering from a fall off my bike. That was on Monday. Since then, I've been sleeping almost nonstop, my appetite is gone but my road rash is starting to heal. I go see the doctor today to see what she has to say. Hopefully I'll have an xray of my right wrist

I know that this is the 50 and over community, but I am in my 20's and I still hang out here. Is that okay? I truly enjoy the forums and conversations that I've had in this community. I've always felt like I have an old soul (not calling anyone here old), but I tend to have more fruitful interactions with those older than me. I relate more to people much older than me, and I feel more secure when talking to them. I do spend my time with plenty of people my own age, of course. I even have a few friends that are a bit younger. It's just that I feel more comfortable talking to people that are older than me. Anyway, I just wanted to know if it's okay if I am spending time in this community.

@mooboxer Thank you very much for welcoming me. :) I've been having a lot of fun playing the association and ABC game forums. :) I have to admit, I am a bit lost when I hear conversations amongst my younger sister and her friends. Each generation creates it's own lingo, I suppose. :)

Hi, most of my life has been spent hiding, an introvert with lots of issues. This year I have actially been making an effort to improve my appearance. So I am looking in the mirror this summer an exclaming - Dahling, u rook Mahvelous!!!LOL.

I am into the third week with a new job. I am feeling so tired and discouraged. Old and fat and cant keep up. It is not physically demanding, Boss is not bossy. My work is good but not fast enough.

It has been difficult to find work at 57 and few skills. So I hope to find a way to adjust to this job. Not having a job is stressful too.

@adventurousBranch3786 ty for the kind words. My boss is ok, but his boss is the one who has everyone stressed,

I plan to show up on time, do the best that I can without taking on / in THEIR stress.

Two day weekend helped. And Labor Day soon too! It takes me longer to adjust than I can stand, aaarrrggggghhh

I've had a horrible weekend. My best friend texted something to me that I thought was beneath her and texted back "that was low". I guess those were not the words to say. She went ballistic. I was NOT to contact her at all for the rest of the night. Which is a code word for I'm pisses as hell. Then she went on to make some snide remarks that basically reduced me to a diagnosis. She went to one meeting of our NAMI family to family support group which she said opened her eyes. But she's done all this research... most of it on You Tube. I'm devastated because I don't want to lose her. Who can have too many friends. I don't have that many to begin with. I don't know what to do.

Sorry that emotions took over that way, it must have been awful for you. At least she went and got informed, seems like she is caring though. When you listen to your heart, what does it tell you to do?
