Welcome to the 50+ Sub-Community. I'm so sorry that you're feeling your only purpose is to provide money, hugs (if okay). I hope you will find the support you need on this site to avoid that downward spiral. Anxiety and depression can be debilitating. Have you thought about connecting to a listener for a 1:1 chat?

You will find our depression support here https://www.7cups.com/home/depression/ and anxiety support here https://www.7cups.com/home/anxiety/

I know how you feel. I'm in my thirties and have the same feeling. To make matters worse, I'm not even that good at making money, so I can't even take pride in that!

I think a therapist would tell us to be better communicators. Maybe talk to the people in our lives about how we feel. I'm skeptical something like that would help; it would likely just create anger and resentment and make an already uncomfortable situation worse.

A therapist would probably also say to do things for ourselves. To not neglect ourselves. It is easy for someone to say sitting on a couch, but it is hard in practice because more time to ourselves means less time for others which again creates anger, friction, and more discomfort in our lives than it was supposed to create in the first place.

I don't really know what the solutions are besides maintaining the status quo or completely disrupting the lives of everyone around us just to shake things up and start from a very uncomfortable scratch.

Do you have any hobbies? Something other than your work and just for you? I am lonely too but find that an interest in reading and crafts can be helpful alongside treatment for anxiety and depression.
