Have your life plans suddenly been halted?

We generally have some form of plan in our minds for our futures, but sometimes/often they don't go to plan for reasons of illness, loss and lots more. Love to hear from you if you feel able to share angel

@lucy2

Hi lucy, nice to see you laugh, love your posts. Life plans, hmm.

I had life plans but for a long time they seemed to have been crashed, now I feel that I am starting to live how I planned it, maybe not 100 % but with alterations, I changed so did the plan (my dream was always to live on a kind of animal farm (rescued animals) in a forest, but where I live it's very very beautiful).

Hi @amiablePeace77 and thanks.

Strangely enough, my life hopes and plans were to have a small holding of some sort with all the animals I wanted, so snap! sadly, this hasn't happened but I do believe we find a path that can be fulfilling but we have to put ourselves out to find it. laugh I've found lots of satisfaction in voluntary work, I studied and qualified as a bereavement counsellor and from there on I have all types of voluntary work that fills my time.

@lucy2 when my dad started to go downhill and needed full time care my focus in life changed. And it continued changing until his death and after. This was a major wall I needed to figure out how to go around.

@soulsings

Sorry for the difficult moment you had Soul.

That's someting we all need to face at a point and it is not easy to be ready for it: we can just do our best to deal with certain kind of sorrows.

I hope you are feeling a bit better since then.

@BeyondTheInvisible you are absolutely right. It is a very challenging moment and it is hard to prepare. The only thing I know how to do is start other activities so your whole life is not that person. I am feeling better now.

and I believe you figured it out. That was definitively very hard on you, one of the toughest things we can go through in our lives as children.

@Positron2

Hugs Posi, talk when you are ready because it might help to get relief. We all can count " failures" in our lives, you are not the only one. I am not proud of some i did but i forgave me for them.

@Positron2 I hope you can find some peace in knowing that failure can be strength, and the pain - though hard of course - can serve as motivation at times. Hugs.

My Dad would have been 85 today. I was a caregiver. Running from work to my parents house to home, had to let my dog out. He called me one day, too much pain. We, my Dad, Mom and I talked about hospice. He was supposed to go there to get pain meds that would help. He died 10 days later. Still cant believe I did so wrong. Should have tried the oncologist 1more time.

@Lauren63

Lauren, we can only do the best we can. How could you know whether this is the right thing or that? We never know for sure. Your words tell that you took great care and that you wanted the best for him. I believe he is watching you and is very proud and thankful for what you did.

@lucy2 - I would like to share a quotation which enlightens this discussion:

No difficulty can discourage, no obstacle dismay, no trouble dishearten the man who has acquired the art of being alive. Difficulties are but dares of fate, obstacles but hurdles to try his skill, troubles but bitter tonics to give him strength; and he rises higher and looms greater after each encounter with adversity. (Ella Wheeler)

Obstacles are obviously some bumps in the road to life, generally - but I think that yes, we need to celebrate those, once we jump ahead! I can think of many such speed-breakers in my life.

I think that obstacles lead us to grow.

What a great quote @SoulfullyAButterfly thanks for sharing that laugh and so very true, worth re-reading at times when we feel 'lost'

Hello everyone… This is my very first post here… But I wanted to share my story. Little over a year ago I was buying a house land contract and lived with a gentleman (I use that term loosely) for the past five years… When we split up, he refused to leave and his sister who I have the contract with decided to nullify our contract so I could not buy the house. I got involved with a younger man who I thought really cared about me… Come to find out, he was nothing but a scam artist. He took me for over $30,000. I had to move another state away to get away from the first guy who would drive past my house in the middle of the night and if I happen to not be there due to being out of town, he would slam me with name calling and hate and false reports to my landlord and telling people that I was on drugs… Very harmful to me, as I am a nurse. And now, I have moved another state away as I stated… But my credit is shot and I am so far in debt I cant even see straight. I am trying to make my life normal again… But I have no idea how to even take the first step. So that is my most recent failure… And Lord help me it is a huge one!
