Managing stress as we get older

Managing stress as we get older relies on physical resilience, maintaining our social connections with others, and having daily routines. Stress in adults has many causes. Some examples of adult stresses are financial responsibilities, chronic illnesses, losing a spouse, adjusting to being retired, and separation from families and friends.

The types of stresses depend on your situation. As we grow older, we do not want to have stress or be dependent on others for help. We want to live our life the way we have made it. The following are the top 5 reasons for stress:

Money: We would like to be set in our lives once we retire, where we do not have to depend on others to financially help us.

Job security: Some older people will look to work part-time in certain places to keep their finances and health going smoothly. Some feel a part-time job will keep them active and physically fit.

Health: We want to be in good shape physically and mentally. We keep ourselves in good shape with the help of our doctors and keeping to a daily routine.

Relationships: staying connected with family and friends. Keeping an active relationship helps us in communicating with others.

Poor nutrition: Keeping ourselves healthy rather than not exercising or eating properly.
