Some years ago my wife and I lived in an old Victorian house that had been converted into 4 nice-sized apartments. We happened to have the apartment that had access to the basement, and stored a fair bit of stuff down there, There were bookshelves all along one wall, and we filled them with books.
One day, a friend was over and we went down to the basement to look for something. We had been down only a few minutes when our cat came prowling down the steps. Suddenly, her fur stood on end and she bolted back up the stairs. At about the same time, some movement caught my eye. Books were flying off the bookshelves. It looked like someone was running their hand behind the books a flinging them off, but there was no one there. When it stopped, we hurried up the stairs ourselves, and didn't go back down into the basement unless it was really necessary.

Yeah, @SoulfullyAButterfly, it had us pretty spooked. And I grew up in a haunted house.
@SoulfullyAButterfly I always enjoyed the Halloween dress up parties at my last job. I once won the prize for being the green hornet.
