I see this a lot in my children
@faithlove1111 yes kids share a multitude of challenges that we all go through.
@Zengrl that must be rough to be distant from family. I did not always see eye to eye with family. In later years it is what it is. There is still contact but it is on the level we could relate to each other.
Mentors are wonderful when we meet them.
@soulsings I like your word choices here :)
@Zengrl I was trying to be as positive as possible.
@soulsings You did well. My positive version is that we came out well in these circumstances, so I
@Zengrl I visited this weekend and I did not try to correct my mother when her version of reality was different than mine. There is less stress that way.
@soulsings That is wise. I will be visiting my mother tomorrow. She rarely recognizes me so that makes things a lot easier.
@Zengrl that is so sad to have to see a loved one that does not acknowledge our presence. In the hospital they say to be careful what you say because the last thing to go is hearing. So even if they cannot speak they may hear things you say. So maybe that is a way to communicate. I used to talk to my dad about fishing trips we had and all the things we did together and how grateful I was. The hospice person said he really lit up when I talked to him. I do not know what he heard, but it made me feel so much better.
@Zengrl Hi, that's a very important point you make. I am very glad that you have your friends and mentors, sometimes the definition of family can surely involve them!
