I would have not been such a jerk to my mother......now many years after her death Im finally seeing her humanity and I understand so much
shes not around for me to tell her Im sorry. The insensitivity of youth.....tragic
@lovingLychee115 sorry for your regrets and sadness. I felt guilt as part of what I was going through as I grieved.
Why is it I learn so much later in life when I could have used it earlier in life in all the situations I faced?
I would have learned more about family issues.
If I could have, I would have liked to be a gifted laywer with an excellent vocabulary and strong voice to fight injustice in this world.

I would have listened to my Dad and not moved back to this area.

@heavenYellow54 well finding the balance is important. If I focus only on my needs my life becomes totally about me. I am only part of a larger world. Even animals show compassion for other animals.

I could have,I wouldve done just about everything differently. But cant change the past.

I would have listened with an open mind, realized how much my father really knew about life and people, and the many things he tried so calmly to tell me were so very, vitally important. I would have saved me so much problems and things I chose to do for myself in my life that were not good choices. I love him, miss him, and so wish I could just tell him this and more now 
@BlueBirdPIllow I am sorry for your loss. Guilt is a normal reaction to loss, but we can only do our best and that is what I did even though I did not take advantage of his wisdom then, I am taking advantage of what I learned from him now. We were very different peopl and I had to be strong to maintain my individuality in the face of his strength and different ideas.
Be gentle on yourself. There is a video on youtube by Padraig O'Morain called Self Compassion. I listen to it often so I do not buy the inner critics voice.
I would have found my way to God much sooner in life!
